Mollycat, I am praying for you. And please make sure that you have a notebook with you, and hopefully a friend, too, so that you can record all your questions and all the doctor's responses and suggestions.
As for the neighbor, call the landlord and explain the situation to him and ask him to contact the clod and get him to behave. Ex air force? My father was in the Air Force and he was a scholar and gentleman. I can understand why this jerk is no longer in that particular branch of the armed services.

Back from the neurologist! Wow, did I ever put my paw down. Immediately when I described my symptoms she got out her prescription pad and wanted to increase my meds. I said "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! No more! I already take 16 Neurontin a day in addition to all the other drugs you have me on! I won't be in a drug coma any more!" I said I wanted action on my CM! She looked shocked at me and said (this one is killer) "What Chiari Malformation?" Trying very hard to bite my tongue I said "The ONE YOU diagnosed 8 years ago". She acted like she knew nothing about it. She went thru my entire file and NOWHERE in my file was a MENTION of a CM!!! She asked me where I got this idea of a CM. I said I had copies of the films at my house as well as the reports from the radiologist that specificially stated this. She said that IF I had a CM, she would know about it! I am steaming by then! She has been voted the best female neurosurgeon in Illinois for YEARS, it took all I had to get in her practice! I calmly said that in my CAT scan and MRI last year both mentioned that I had the CM. She asked where I had them and said she would get the reports and I should sit tight. About ten minutes later she pokes her head in and says "May I bring in my student?" I said sure why the hell not at this point? They both come in and sit down, their faces are not the faces I want to see. She says "I want to apologize, these test results change EVERYTHING" We need to do more indepth testing immediately. I have an EEG tomorrow that measures brain waves/activity. I go back in for another MRI to see if the tonsils of my brainstem have become more compressed and if I need emergency brain surgery. She said that she will have a name of a "specialized brain surgeon" for me tomorrow. That pretty much told me where this is headed. Slicing my head and skull and brain open. Talk about scared. I started crying in her office. She put her hand on my shoulder and said "We'll figure this out together" Her student was white as a sheet as she was my age. The doc was totally compassionate at the end. Boy, I am trying to wrap my head around the whole thing. Please keep praying, I need it now more than ever. Save some for our dearest Ginger and Victor though please!

MollyCat, many, many prayers coming from me to you. I am going to do my best positive thinking and hope that the MRI results will be promising. I won't tell you not to worry until you have the tests, because of course that would be impossible. But we will all pray that there may be an option other than surgery.

btw, no I have no one to take care of the girls if I have (gulp) brain surgery. They would have to go to the spa and stay.

Oh god, Molly, I'm so sorry. I'm especially sorry that your doc was so clueless. I bet she brought the student in for a "teaching moment" on what to say when you've totally ****ed up. You did exactly the right thing speaking up.
Listen to me. As someone who's had the inside of her head rearranged more than once, I know exactly how scared you are. But I believe with all my heart that you are going to be OK. We will get you through this. E-mail me if you want to talk, newsgoddess at gmail dot com.

First, kudos to you for sticking to your guns! Goes to show that we know best about our health, not the professionals! Will be praying for you during this hard time. Hugs to you and your kitties.

MollyCat, is there a friend or neighbor who might keep Wilma and Betty? Or could you call a pet sitting service and see if they have live-in sitters? Also, you might see if there is a community college that has a jobs bank. You might be able to hire a college student to come and live-in and take care of the girls.

Moll, I am glad you stood your ground with the dr.....that is needed sometimes....my telling you to not worry until after tests are done is dumb, as we all would be worried if it were us. You have alot of prayers coming your way, so hold tight to those. Please try not to worry about where the girls would go at this point....could your Mom take them? I know you will work it out for your girls, for now, put yourself first and get through these tests. I'll be praying for you.

Bless you for being assertive and taking care of yourself. And thank goodness the doctor was humble enough to admit to her mistake and not try to blame it on your imagination the way so many do. You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers, and I pray that the surgery will give you healing and relief so that you will never have those awful headaches and other symptoms again. Wouldn't it be wonderful to gt rid of those?! This really underlines that even though the experts are great to have, no one knows the body better than the person in it, and we all need to take care of ourselves and insist on being heard. Good for you!
