  1. OK, so i have been against needing 'help' from the beginning...but there comes a time to swallow it and ask. So i am selling my car, i need money for bills and to buy a used laptop to finish out the semester because my wonderful 2 year old kicked mine off the sofa in a fit of rage and apparently messed it up enough for the repair guy to tell me i am better off buying a new one....Anyone who is in school knows how hard it is to even attempt classes...esp. online classes with no computer. There is free wifi everywhere but free computers...nope! hahah

SO long story short i decided i can do with out a car for awhile. It is a 1998 Nissan Altima, its a gold color, power options witha sun roof and CD player. It runs fine but the leather inside is messed up in the 2 front seats...they need seat covers...it has 165,000 miles, working heat and A/C. There is a small dent in the bumper because i backed in to my mailbox some years ago and there a a decent amount of scratches that i am sure could be buffed out. Over all its a good car that RUNS and never been smoked in. the kelly blue book gives me 2,200 in "fair" condition so i am asking 1,00 because i need to sell it quickly. If anyone would like to see pics i will take some. Thanks guy!

  2. Wish I could help, but I'm in AZ and don't know anyone in OK. I'm so proud of you for being so proactive.

  3. HB I am sorry to hear you have to sell the car. Make sure you have a sign in it. You might have great luck selling it at the college. I hope you find a buyer quick.

Now you were suppose to see the doctor--I know I am being TERRIBLY nosy. How did that go? Are you doing okay? How is the family situation going. I have been praying that the resolution you want occurs. Remember my prayers continue to be with you.

  4. thank you much! It just makes sense..my sister lives a mile from me and she already said if i need a ride anywhere she will try and take me...I am pretty much going online for all my classes but 1 and the college is only about 2 miles away. Work is only 13 blocks away..all walking distance!

  5. I did go to the doctor, wow that was a couple weeks back. I had to stay in the hospital for 24 hours so they could moniter my urin durring that time. I tested positive on both of the tests for chushings. My Cortisol(sp?) is very elivated with no apparent cause. I see the Endocroknowlagist(again spelling...im horrible with out my spell checking computer!) not this monday but the next(the 6th) to see if there is a mass and discuss my options for treatment....has not been a fun game..but it is finally getting somewhere!

As far as my family goes..me and the boy are doing good...husbands lawyer has asked for continuance at both hearings so the only thing that has been order is child support...at first it was really high, then he asked for a review with in 3 weeks of that order saying he was "layed off" so now it is dropped down to 228 a month...he comes and sees the kids, he is nice...but very distant..i am slowly excepting the fact that is is over...

  6. I am so very glad you went to that appointment. You need to remember to take care of yourself. You are the most important person in the world to your kids. The endocrinologist should be able to help. I am so glad at least now you know, and now can figure out the best option.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I can't help but feel there is someone so much better for you just around the corner when you least expect it. I do find it interesting he is layed off when he has to pay child support.

I can not tell you how impressed I am. You have handled this and been so strong! You are an inspiration, and I can hardly wait until you announce your graduation!

  13. HZ! You are amazingly strong, prayers of support for you! You know we're all behind you.... I have had wonderful luck selling cars on auto trader.com. Both times I got a quick response and the price I was asking. Best of luck to you!

Posted 11 months ago by AV #

  14. HZ, I'm so glad you checked in. I can't help with the car but want to encourage you as a single mom myself--you can do it! There are many agencies standing by to help you. Please check them out. You are making a good decision to sell the car if everything is in walking distance; you will not only get the money for the sale, but save on gas and insurance. Many hugs and prayers.

  17. I don't know what is available in your state, but if you called around to agencies that deal with people in crisis situations they may know who you could call. For instance, you could call local churches, the Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc. The agency here in Georgia that would help you is called MUST but I think they are local.

Posted 11 months ago by Catwoman #

  18. HZ, first of all, you have been in my thoughts and prayers so much. You know, I do still want to do that quilt for you.

Secondly, if you aren't certain what agencies are available where you can turn to for assistance, I would like to suggest that you call your local United Way and ask. Most of the agencies that are there to help you are going to be program providers for United Way. I'm a UW volunteer here and I have to say that I am so impressed with the providers that we have here. You will have great help in your area, you just need someone to help you identify the assistance that you need. Then they can direct you to the proper agency.

Please keep letting us know how you are!

  19. I'm so happy to hear from you, HLB! You father would be so proud of you for the steps you are taking to survive and thrive after the break up of your marriage. You are a wonderful example for your kids!

I'm hoping you have legal representation in the divorce case, so your and the kids' rights are protected.

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services offers a variety of programs. One thing I saw on its website is a "child support calculator" which gives you a way of determining whether or not you are getting the appropriate amount of child support. Here is the website for the child support calculator:
http://204.87.68.21/childsupport/guidelines/calc.htm This doesn't substitute for legal advice but will give you an idea of whether or not $228.00 is in the ball park.

    Good luck with finding a buyer for your car. {{{hugs}}}

  21. {{{HLB}}} Ebay and Autotrader charge for the listings, I think.... You might want to try listing your car on CraigsList, because you can post pics and the listings are free. Check CraigsList dot com and see if they have a local site for your city; I have sold furniture there and it was very efficient, and the ad was free, even with pics... hope this suggestion helps.

  22. {{{HLB}}} Kia kaha, be strong, I think you're awesome, you're just getting on and dealing with it for you and your children. So hoping that everything falls into place soon and that things get better for you, you so deserve it!

  23. HZB...I used Craigslist when I had to sell my Chevy (I had it for 38 yrs.) & it sold within a week...the others are right...no charge for listing.
I'm also sending you continued Prayers for Strength & Positive vibes.
