  1. I am in for the weekend and am wanting to "rent" some movies from ComCast Video on Demand this weekend. I am pretty out of touch with movies and what has been out recently so am taking suggestions. I did want to watch 'Bolt' but they didn't have that yet. The only thing that I DON'T watch are those silly horror movies. Pretty much watch anything else, I am easy to please. (Yes, I do love animated and kid's movies too!) Give me your best movie review. IF I am going to need to take off any time from work in the near future I will have some other ideas then too! Thanks for your help!

  2. Well if you have never seen the Tudors that is a great series--I take that straight from WWM, she got me hooked.

Fireproof and Australia would top my list. Nim's Island is a good one too.

  3. Beautiful Mind if you have not seen it yet.
Must see Slumdog Millionaire when it comes out on DVD.
Another cute movie I saw recently was Bottle Shock (slow start, but good)

  18. I watched Juno lately and surprisingly enough I enjoyed it. It's about a teenager who gets pregnant and how she deals with it.
I liked Hancock too,it has Will Smith as a out of favor superhero and is pretty funny and not violent.

  19. DM, Yikes, I count 66 that I've seen..... Some of them I've never heard of, tho...

Once again showing my age, I think :-(

    Good list!

  20. goldfinger (james bond) is my favorite all time movie, followed by blazing saddles, and braveheart

  21. A friend loaned us August Rush and we watched it last night. What a sweet story! Oh, and guess who the male lead is? Jonathan Rhys Martine - aka Henry VIII!! He was wonderful. It's a real feel good movie.

    Somewhere in Time
    Shall We Dance
    Babe
    Cinderella with Drew Barrymore

    Those are my "comfort" movies!

Kittymom, I really liked both The Illusionist and The Prestige.

  22. WWM, Where did you see/get 'The Illusionist'??? I haven't seen it yet, it is on my list. BTW, I forgot "Babe"! Another winner! 'Baaa Rammm Ewueee'!

  24. Kittymom, we rented it from Netflix. It was really good.

  25. One of my faves is yonks old but a real tearjerker, Truly Madly Deeply, with Alan Rickman and Juliet Stevenson, directed by Antony Minghella before he did The English Patient.

And how could you go past the golden oldies, Brief Encounter with Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard, or His Girl Friday with Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell? Then there's Bringing up Baby with Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Or Notorious with Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman (can you tell I like Cary Grant?)

  26. How about the quirky? Try "The Dinner Game" in the original French with subtitles. It's a gentle comedy. The girls and I love it and have seen it several times.

  27. Holy Cow, I just looked at DM's list and there are only 11 movies on there that I HAVEN'T seen! Now I need to look them up. If you like Pride & Prejudice, you might also like Sense & Sensibility, another Jane Austen goodie. That one starred Emma Thompson and (pre-Titanic) Kate Winslet. A few other movies that I love are "Glory" and "The Elephant Man" (although both make me cry buckets of tears) and "The Best Years Of Our Lives" (which I often watch on Veteran's Day. It is an amazing movie about three men trying to return to civilian life after serving in WWII.)
