Last Day of March Night Shift

(36 posts)
  1. Hi Shifters!

I'm bored at the gym (as usual) and figured it was time for Night Shift. I have bananas, yogurt, apple sauce, crackers and gummi bears for dessert to offer. Any takers?

    How was everyone's day?

  2. I will split the gummi bears with you please. The day stunk.

  3. I'm sorry - it sounded like a rotten day for you!
I like the red and green gummi bears the best, but I'll share :)

  4. I will take the other colors, I don't much mind, I like all gummi bears. I would even take the banana! At least the girls came out from under the bed to sit on my lap. I must have smelled like the hospital and they thought I went to the "adult vet". LOL

  5. My boys sniffed at me a lot, too, when I got back from the ER. Here - have a banana!

There's noone in the gym at all. I'm going to batch out the register and try to leave a bit early.

  6. Hi GD and MC...I'm almost never here for the night shift *peeks and looks around* MC so sorry you have the "vet" smell...it fades fast...
Speaking of gummi bears..when rons daughter was about 12 and I was doing a load of laundry, she ran in at the last minute to add a jacket....
Lesson....Always check the pocket of a 12 yr.old even if it is the last minute....An entire load of laundry mixed with full opened bag (large) gummi bears....NOT PRETTY!

  7. Hi 2b! Sorry I ran off. Closed the register and cleaned up the gym. I'm ready to go home now as soon as the time gets close enough to nine. I guess I'll stick around til 8:45. It'll be nice to get home early.
    Oh no a phone call!!!!

  12. I can't tell you how many times I've washed money, lunch tickets, prom tickets, notes from tickets, etc...... LOL...... even washed some concert ticket that daughter wanted real bad... (wasn't my fault!)... just got back from playing put put on the beach, so much fun to have the family back togther again!!! painting was .... funny today to say the least, colors not really there, and son tried his hand (imagine Jim Carrey painting!).... we laughed and laughed....

  13. Do they make sour gummy bears? My mom had a strict rule: anything left in pockets when she did laundry became hers. I think she had a nice little laundry fund going down there.

  14. I think I am gonna go lay on my bed and work some puzzles. Not much else holds my attention and my hands and wrists are killing me since they each have four holes in them. I am all purple now from the bruises. Plus the puzzles are supposed to help my "brain" Goodnite all, sleep well. Get a few zzzz's for me please.

  15. My mom had the same rule NNGM..

  16. NNGM, that's the rule in our house too, I used to get quite a haul of loose change but Mr MS started checking his pockets after I crowed about how much money I was finding. motto - don't brag. When Mr MS was a young boy his older brother left a bullet in his trousers that went into the wash, it was an old washing machine with the agitator and a wringer on top. Somehow the bullet got compressed between the agitator and the bottom of the machine and went off. Thereafter the machine sported and wee ding in the side of it and their mother for some reason was always nervous doing the washing.

  19. Have been trying to put life into perspective lately. 6 years ago my doctor said I would NEVER live to see my daughter graduate from high school. I was devastated. I have bounced back from everything and thought I was really getting strong. The TIA sort of squashed that thought! Thinking about Renee and how short life can be. I want to see my baby graduate from college with a PhD, get married, and have children. I want to watch her build a life, and I want to be a Grandma. I want that time with my husband. I know there are no promises. It is important to live while you can. To make the most of life. Aristabobbi helped a lot more than she knows. It is important to find time and build relationships.

  20. One of the hazards of being a farmers wife. I was a city girl when I married but I soon learned some of the hazards too, usually involving animals in places you wouldn't expect them to be.

  21. ((((SM))))) I too believe we must live each and every day to it's fullest, and we cannot worry or try and predict tomorrow!!!No one ever knows!... I learned that when I almost died from being given an antibotic..... I've learned (the hard way) to appreciate every day, every hour, and every experience I can.... I try and embrace that!.... Hugs to you !!!!

  22. Try not to worry, SM. None of us is guaranteed the future we would like to have, but life can still be wonderful. I have a loved one with a serious brain disorder. When we first learned the diagnosis I was devastated, but I am so grateful now for every good day and I hope to have many, many more. The disorder is well-managed with medication and my loved one is the sweetest, kindest, most gentle person you'd ever want to meet. :)

  25. Gosh. What to say? So many sad things in our little family. Well, after years and years of being a hospice nurse, I will tell you that I have learned that each day is a gift. When my mother was fine one moment, and then dead the next in an accident of falling off of a building, I learned that nothing is fair or guaranteed. We never know what fate might hold in store for us. And so, it is up to us to make each day count. Even in giving little things.

Here on TDK I would say that our family gives more than "little things". We give love and what could be more important than that? It may only be a virtual hug, but it is love.

I truly believe that when these things happen, it is a message to us to live our lives to the fullest and make each day count. Live so that you leave a mark. It may be such a tiny mark that you don't even realize that the pen scratched the paper. But to someone else, it might be a huge gouge and one that made a difference in their life. We never know what we do that might make such a difference in someone else's life. And what we do could be good, or it could be bad. Let us hope that the marks that we leave are good.

For my TDK family, I can honestly say that I could fill pad after pad full of the good marks that you have made.

What an incredible group of people. I am humbled to belong.
