3. Vicki Myron believes she had a deep connection with Dewey. For example, he knew when he was going to the vet before she even said the word. Do you believe people and animals can have such a connection? If so, how do they read us so well?

I think they do. Think of the many people on this sight that have had that connection both ways. When the human knew something was wrong with the cat before really "knowing" and a cat always seems to know when something is wrong with their human, sometimes before the human will ever admit there is a problem be it physical or mental.

Yes...I believe we do. Just like when we know our children are sick...we can tell something is wrong with our furbabies. It always makes me nervous to take my cats to the vet. I think they can sense that and realize something is up.

Absolutely! Just as we sometimes connect with those who have passed, we can also connect with animals. Jiggs was deeply committed to me, and he would play with me when I was happy, sit with me and purr when I was sad, and he never left my side when I was sick. He just knew me that well. It seems that many animals, not just cats, have that extra sense. For instance, dogs who have been able to detect cancer or alert someone in a medical emergency. Let's not forget countless stories of animals who have woken up their people to alert them of a house fire. Heroes, all of them.

Oh, I know that they do! You know how your kitties always seem to know when you are sick? Sometimes even before I realize that I'm sick, my girls will know and they will be plastered to me.
My Bombalurina understood everything that we said to her. And, she would answer. She had quite a vocabulary! She consistently used the same sounds and meows for the same thing. It wasn't accidental - or at least, we didn't think that it was!

Shaddo and Jiggs, who would squirm when I excidedly smushed them together in a group hug, were very relaxed and put up with me when I came home, gathered them up, and cried into their fur the morning my father died.

I can agree with this one! I don't know how they do it, but whenever I have a vet appointment scheduled, I will get the carrier out ahead of time and leave the door open. They have a great time going in and out, playing in there. But, they KNOW when I am planning to put one in and leave for the vet; then they scatter! Oh yes, they can read minds.

Most definately!! I've been more loved & cared for by my feline friends than my human. I don't know why they have the ability to percieve when we are sick,or scared,or hurting. Only our maker can tell us that. But, my cats know me well. They are soooo good at knowing ahead that they're getting meds or going into the dreadful carrier,etc. Altho a couple of the 'laid back' kits will go into them for naps. :)

Telepathy or kinesthesia? Does it make a difference? If you have to have your explanations empirically straight, you may just want to consider kinesthesia. This is the sensory anomoly where people see sounds, or taste colors. It could be that the energy we give off with a particular thought or action changes our smell and the superior nose of our kits can read those like a book.

I have no doubt whatsoever. I think it only happens though, if you truly love an animal. I think they are quite perceptive and make that connection only when they know the are "safe". I feel very sad for those who do not believe this or for those who have not experienced this. I truly can tell what most all of my kitties want or need before they actually ask. My family often makes fun of me for this. However the most special connections I have had are with a feral kitty I rescued (who I could not touch for 11 years!) and with my Jennyanydots. Sadly I lost them both in the past few years. I know that they are OK and I cannot wait to see them again.

Definately possible to have a deep connection with a cat. I had it with Sultie, beyond a doubt. At one point, I was out in the garden and he was in the house and I suddenly knew he needed me. I ran in and straight to the room where he was - he'd got his collar caught in the net curtain and then had backed away to get free and half fallen off the ledge, nearly hanging himself. I grabbed him to take his weight and took the collar off him so he wasn't being choked anymore, then we cuddled until we both felt better. This was a front window and I was in the back garden so it's not like I saw him or anything. There was no way I would have known that he was in trouble without some sort of 'deep connection'. As for him reading me, yes he did, and much the same way I suspect - we had a 2 way connection. He was amazing.

I think the connection is there. When my Grandma died I had Patches and Spookey from the time I heard she was dying until my first grief was past I always had a cat with me--they never left me alone. When Tessie was dying and I had decided to help her over the bridge I was left alone with her for a few minutes. She gave me such a knowing trustful look and purred a little to let me know it was OK and she was ready to go.
