  1. Did this book change your opinion of cats? How would you answer the question posed at the beginning of the book: How much of an impact can an animal have? Is your answer different after reading the book?

  2. absolutely not! It only reinforces what I've always believed.... cats are the most loving, giving animals on earth.... they give unconditionally, and add more to you life than you probably ever realize...... Dewey is a noble example of a spectacular breed of animal!

  3. Did it change my opinion of cats? *laughs hysterically* No - I love cats, I've always loved cats and I always will love cats.

How much of an impact can an animal have? They can change a life. They can give meaning to a life. They can take away hurt and loneliness. They can reaffirm a person's sense of self worth. They can soothe and even help heal. They can reach children that no one else has been able to reach. They can make us smile on the gloomiest of days and in the darkest of hours.

My answer is no different. But, by the end of the book I knew that Dewey was truly an exceptional kitty. I mourned his passing just as they must have mourned. I could imagine the emptiness of the library that must have existed without Dewey.

Dewey is still teaching the world what all of us already know. Cats are special. They bring joy and comfort. They are intuitive in knowing when we need them the most. Dewey may be gone in appearance, but through his story he will live forever and will continue to touch the lives of all who know him.

  4. It didn't change my opinion of cats--they have always been special to me. Dewey isn't the only cat to drastically changed a life--read all the stories on TDK. There are cats here that have changed and blessed lives. This book didn't change how I would answer, it only confirmed how I have felt.

  6. I've loved cats since before I can remember. I think cats (and other animals) can make an impact for good in this world. I just know how much mine own have always met to me--I don't even trust people who don't like cats.

  7. I don't think anything would change my passion for cats! Every day I love them more than the day before!

  9. Didn't change my opinion of cats at all. I love, and will always love cats. Each are so different, even though many look similar. You can never "replace" a cat who has left us, but you can bring a new one into your life. Leela is so different from the boys, and I've accepted that I cannot "train" her the same as them.
Probably one of the biggest reasons why I enjoyed reading about Dewey so much - it's a cat book!
