  1. Yep, it's true, I got home about 8:15 last night to find the door kicked. The friend I live with is very upset (he owns the house). It's very confusing, because with $7 or $8k worth of guns visible all they took was his 42" plasma tv and the DVD player and DVR that were attached to it. It was a pretty rough night, kinda hard to sleep knowing that someone had been there.

  4. OMG!!! I'm so sorry CCM. I know that feeling your talking about, it's very personal when a stranger violates your private space. I'm just thankful no one was hurt...(who ever it was wasn't very bright to pass up the guns)

  5. Maybe they were disturbed? sounds like they took the most valuable/sellable items.
    Awful awful news. Hugs CCM.xx

  6. Yeah, It sounds like someone needed things that could be sold fast and without question. So sorry Chuck, but at least no one was hurt and the really valuble stuff was left.

  10. (((Chuck))) Glad no one was home, but I would consider getting the guns locked up and out of sight in case they come back. Also maybe an alarm on the house. After a break-in we bought a system from a Home Depot type store and purchased a very loud siren for the outside of the house to alert the neighbors of a break-in. Most criminals will flee from a ruckus and not stop to wonder if it is tied to the police or a security company.

  11. Thanks everyone.

    The police have 2 theories..
    1) They were interrupted, meaning they may be back, or
    2) It was someone that knows the tv was there and that is all they came for (if so we have a pretty good idea who)

The reasoning for these theories, it is easier to sell the guns around here than the tv...and they could actually get more money for them than the tv.

KYKAT...we moved the guns last night before we tried to go to bed.

  12. What about the kitties?? They didn't get out did they?? are they okay??

    Posted 2 years ago by 2bpurring #

  13. Oh Chuck...how horrible. I'm so sorry this happened. How angry and defiled you both must feel. I sure hope they catch the person responsible. Ours is such a troubled world but to come home and bear witness to an invasion such as this just amplifies it all so much. =(

  14. 2B...the kitties don't live there, they are living in my office, until I find a more permanent home.

  15. Oh Chuck, that's horrible - no wonder you didn't get any sleep!!!

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  16. CCM, So sorry, it really stinks when that happens. I had a brick thrown through the sliding glass door during a storm. I was asleep upstairs and did not even hear it. They took my wallet. Four weeks later same thing! Same guy...they caught him. Zoned out on crack. He decided to come to Brazos county from Dallas to try his luck with robbery. It did not work too well. It is really hard to not feel violated and to sleep after something like this happens. Lucky the kits were not there! Hope they catch the b......s. I'm sending peaceful thought to you.

  17. Hugs for CCM. Hope they catch the bum(s).

  18. We are praying they are caught too and that they got everything they wanted and don't come back.

Posted 2 years ago by Crazycatman - CA #

  19. Gosh, Chuck - that is horrible! The worst part is probably thinking that they might come back. How unnerving. Are the police going to do drive-bys to keep an eye on things?

  20. I am so sorry Chuck. It's awful when someone has been in your home. Get a good alarm, and I do hope the police will keep an eye on the place for the next few weeks.

  21. Stay safe Chuck!!! You're friend needs to consider a alarm system. Everyone out here has one, or has been broken into...sometimes both!!

    Posted 2 years ago by 2bpurring #

  22. CCM, so sorry to hear the news. It's incredibly hard to sleep in one's house after a break-in; all one can think about is the burglars breaking in again. I'm relieved to know that nobody was hurt in the incident.

My heart goes out to you. I hope you soon regain peace of mind.

  23. Chuck, that it terrible!...... last summer, I was sitting in my home office working on the computer, when I heard a loud banging next door..... I walked out my front door, and didn't see anyone, but looked over at my neighbor's house, and someone had kicked her front door in and heard her alarm going off...... I immediately called the police. When they got there, the discovered they had stolen the lady's computers, 2 TVs and her jewelery box..... they called it a "smash & grab"...... The police told me these people were probably juvie deliq. and they know they have 3 minutes or less... one heads straight for the electronic/TV stuff, and the other for the jewelery...... I was amazed because I never saw anyone, they were so fast...... but stupid me for wondering outside... it taught me to be more cautious for sure!

  24. CCM, I am so sorry to hear this....how scary...hope they catch whoever is responsible! It would be hard to relax in the house after that!

  25. Just catching up here. This is just awful, you must have a dreadful "being violated" feeling. Thank God the kitties are safe in your office.

Posted 2 years ago by Tigerlilly #

  26. CCM, I am so glad you were not hurt! Things can be replaced, people cannot. I hope they catch them and are able to set you mind at ease.

  27. Chuck, I feel your pain! My place has been broken into on more than one occasion and yes, it really sucks to have your home invaded and voilated like that. Please take whatever precausions you need to and stay safe my friend.

  28. A monitored alarm is a waste of money--most thieves are in & out long before the police arrive. The only alarm worth having is by Smith & Wesson! My ex, who was a NYS Corrections Officer taught me to shoot first---"dead men tell no tales"--and make sure the body is INSIDE the house---you have to be in fear of your life to shoot an intruder, and being outside doesn't count!

  29. I'm just glad you and the cats weren't hurt. Find another place to live soon! {{{HUGS}}}

  30. CCM, so sorry that your living space has been compromised by j***a***s. My son who lives in Phoenix recently went thru the same thing, only the thieves went thru the back door and stole the electronics and money.
