I have caught up on threads and it seems like our world with our friends is crashing and burning. I feel the loss and pain that our friends are going through. I hope that someone will have some good news tonight, to ease their pain.

Going to bed. I pray for healing for those who are in need or family or friends who need it as well. I hope that things work out soon for our family and that this time of strife is over soon. May you all stay well and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
May the angels kiss you gently while you sleep. Love, mama Lynn

Hi, Lynn, SM, Cheri and Deb. Sorry I missed you! I've been getting better acquainted with our new kitten, Boots. She is quite a snuggler. We had a short nap together and she purred up a storm after curling up against my stomach. Kitties are wonderful de-stressors, aren't they?! :)
I'm going to crawl off to bed and see if Digit will turn up her nose at me smelling of the new stranger. lol Sweet dreams, all!

MS and jcat...where are you??? I need my NZ fix :DPosted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

Hi, CM, it's only ten to ten here! Early as! I just finished correcting a couple of papers and have just sent them off overseas... so I think I deserve a bit of a break. I'm listening to Leonard Cohen and will get a cup of tea in a moment. MS doesn't usually turn up till after 10.
It is SO COLD here. I hope it's better where you are, although I remember you said you were having snow. We are promised a lovely sunny Easter although at the moment I think the weather's coming straight off the Antarctic.
Aren't you going off on your lovely trip to Virginia today? Drive safely! I worry about people on the roads during public holidays... I was going to say, if you read the Nicci French book while you're away, read it with the lights on but doh, how else are you going to read it...
-
CM, shhhhhhhhhh don't wake them up.....
jcat, evening :) at least you have music, we aren't allowed!

lol Deb...Hi jcat and Deb!!!!
We are leaving for West Virginia about 1pm our time..Wayne has to work 1/2 day. Then as soon as we arrive, we have to go straight to the funeral home..then go to my MIL to relax...long day ahead.
I was going to take that book jcat but I decided on the one with Rebus in it :)
The Nicci French book, my mom loved that author by the way, the main character is named Abbie and spelled that way too!! It's a sign....lolPosted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

Hi Deb, Leonard is playing very softly, I'm very fond of him at the moment!
CM, how cool that your mother liked Nicci French too! She always has great women characters with great names. (But boy do they get into some terrible trouble.) I think it's actually a husband and wife team, both journalists, Sean French and his wife Nicci but she seems to do all the publicity... I love Rebus too. He's such a complicated, world-weary character... and his sidekick, Siobhan, is pretty cool too. But Minette Walter's a lot of fun too and there's nearly always a love interest...!
I just got sent a paper back with some more corrections to make so see you guys in about 20 mins :( don't they know it's Easter?

CM, have a safe trip my friend.
jcat, we used to at least listen to the radio but not for the last 18 months, some said it was 'too distracting'...sigh

I just got out of the shower and boy did that feel good. We must have had a full moon last night, it's beautiful!! I can see it from my window.Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

Good morning all - good evening to the NZ crew!
Talking of music, if I want my class to work quietly I will often play some Mozart. It's supposed to stimulate the brain as well as occupying the peripheral part of the mind which might otherwise turn to chat.

Hi, PM, yep, love music while I'm working although can't listen to music with words in it if I'm proofreading, I get all mixed up... How nice it would have been to be in your class!
Deb, that's such a shame, I would find music less distracting than hearing other people's conversations in an open-plan office...
-
Morning PM, I would even listen to Mozart if we could only listen to music

Deb, can't you take in an iPod or similar, so that you can listen without "distracting" others?

Morning PM :)
How are you? How are the girls?Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

Actually even though I work in an open-plan office, one cannot really even hear the person in the adjoining console who is sitting less than 5 ft away. There is a lot of noise from the air conditioning units that is constant, louder than any white noise unit you can find.

I'm fine although a little stiff after the exertions of yesterday.
The girls have not yet found a way to remove the protective covers I have put over the re-planted pot plants to prevent them from using them as spare litter trays. *Sigh* Did I really want two new cats?

Hey they put baffles on them, all it did was stop the air from blowing directly on us but didn't cut the noise at all.
PM, yes you did want two new cats without a doubt. Hope that you feel better today after the kinks work themselves out.

Evening/morning/afternoon all, I think that about covers all the time zones. Sitting here wrapped in blankets, it's freezing.

True, but having to re-pot several very large, very heavy plants in order to remove the cat poo from around them, and then creating cardboard "cat baffles" to foil the little monsters was just a tad irritating yesterday. They are also busy wrecking my hearthrug. Hepburn attacks it almost every night after we have gone to bed. If it goes on much longer we'll have a bald rug.
