Hello. I have been lurking this forum to read about kitten care topics. This is a great site/community!
I am getting a 8 weeks old kitten in a week or so. She is a mix of Siamese and Ragdoll, lynx point. Does anyone happen to have a mix like that? I am very looking forward getting to know her. This is not my first cat, but first kitten in a long time. I am sure I will be back with questions soon. I am so glad I found this site!

Welcome FF.... as you can see, I'm owned by a Siamese, Abby. They are a very vocal breed, and need to be taught early where to scratch. I would recommend getting a scratching board as soon as you bring her home, most of them have a little pocket that you put some nip in, and that attracts the cat to it. Once they learn where to scratch, they will most always use that one item..... saves your furniture, bedding and such!....best of luck, I hope you post pics!

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! Abbigaleviolet, yes, in fact the first item I purchased for her was a scratching post. I got her a nice tall one, which I'll make sure she will use! :) Reading everyone's story here has helped me mentally prepare for this new family member. (Especially for when things don't go smoothly) As you can see, I can hardly wait.

FF Welcome to the litter. I can't even begin to write here what a fabulous group of people you will meet here. We are so glad you decided to join the family. I am so happy you are "expecting" as we love our new babies here. Our only requirement, we LOVE kitten pix! If you ever have any questions feel free to ask as this is a community of cat lovers who have pretty much experienced it all. My girls are Betty and Wilma. I also have Mollycat (who moved in with my mom when dad died) who is in my avatar!
