In about half an hour, I will leave for visitation at the funeral home. Mr. Leeny isn't going; he doesn't do well in unstructured social situations with people he doesn't know well. I don't know if Kate will be there or not; she may already be in North Carolina. Seeing people for the last time is hard, but somehow it gives some comfort when they were taken so suddenly, with no opportunity to say goodbye. I know her son, but not her daughter or grandchildren.
There's going to be a reception at the church after the funeral. Mr. Leeny is contributing cookies.
After that, it's life without her.
