help for unhappy new foster mom

  1. Don't feel bad, Dana, you tried to do something for the kittens and many people didn't do even that much. Instead of giving up on fostering, why don't you ask the SPCA to put you in touch with someone who has been fostering for awhile? Then you can ask her/him to mentor you. Spend some time in the evenings/weekends with the mentor. Get comfortable with what kits at different ages are like. Maybe even take over for the experienced foster mom when she goes away for a weekend. You might find that you are better with adolescent kittens, or for a single special needs kitty, or whatever. At least if you find someone to help train you, you'll have a much better idea of when to accept an assignment from the SPCA and when to tell them "not this time."
