  1. I guess we offically have a new family member. We named him Buddy. Buddy came to our house a couple of months ago. He was hungry and needed a warm place to sleep. I fixed him a little house with a sleeping bag in it on our deck. He would come and go and show up every couple of days to eat. In the last few weeks he has been staying around the house all day so I guess he decided he liked our house the best. He will only let me pet him and runs when he hears loud noises. He needed worming and had ear mites to the point he would scratch and make them bleed. I was able to get the wormer down him and finally convinced him to let me doctor his ears. They are so much better now. He is such a sweet cat. When I first tried to pet him he would run..now he just wants me to love on him all the time. He didn't even act like he knew what it was like to be petted. Our next step will be to go to the spa to be neutered. I have found a low cost clinic that charges $25.00 to neuter and $35.00 to spay. It is about 60 miles away but it is so much cheaper than the vet I go to. They charge almost $120.00 for the same procedure. I have talked to several others who have used the clinic and they say only good things about them. He will have to stay an outside cat since I already have 5 other cats that are inside and Buddy still does the marking territory thing! I hope that getting him fixed will help that. Mr. Kitty and Goober do go outside and they get along with Buddy just fine. Anyway...here is the link to his catster page if you would like to see him.

By the way...my hubby didn't even get upset about him staying with us!!! So Buddy must have really made a first good impression. It must have been Bud's big green eyes!

  13. Thanks everyone...I think Buddy is very handsome! He eats like a little horse and is quite messy when he does. He likes to put his front feet in the food bowl when he eats. I have a picture of him doing it! Crazy! He has a great personality and can be very silly when playing. He just startles real easy so you can not make any quick moves around him. He runs like the wind. I don't think I have ever seen a cat run as fast as he can. He seems to be fitting in very nicely with our family and looks very comfortable when lounging on the deck. He has a chair with a cushion that he loves to lay in! I wish he could come in but I am not going to push that topic. I am just happy that my hubby doesn't care that he stays.

  15. Buddy is so handsome!!! He bears a striking resemblance to Munkustrap from the play, Cats! A very handsome cat, indeed.

ILMC, I can relate to the dining issues. My Windi is the messiest eater ever! But we love her anyway.

  18. What a handsome fellow. In the photo where he is partly shaded by the tree, he looks like a little lynx . . . or do I mean bobcat? I never could tell them apart.

  22. Buddy is a handsome fellow; he looks like he could have been a football player in a previous life. He has that no-neck physic, very studdy.

  23. What a very handsome boy! I know you will get him healthy and raring to go in your household. If outside is to be for now, things can change. Getting him taken care of may be a good thing and he could be in your home. But you are taking care of him outside and he is responding and that is good. I wish you much luck bringing him into your nest and hope he will be there soon. Thanks for sharing.

  27. Buddy is very handsome! I'm so glad you could take him in. We took in a similar stray that was about 10. Had him nutered and he stopped spraying so there is hope for Buddy!
