Movie quiz

  1. Let's have a quiz game, littermates. I've been seeing quite a few older movies on TV lately, and some of them have interesting lines in them. Here are four of those lines. Each is from a different movie. What movies are they from? (Please excuse me if the quotes aren't verbatim; I'm doing this from memory.) Identifying actors and characters counts for extra points.

"I am sick and tired of the entire western world knowing how my kidneys are functioning!"

"Americans become very annoyed when their children are stolen."

"I promise not to faint, Doctor, if you promise not to eat garlic the night before an operation."

"He graduated cum laude from Harvard but flunked right out of Berlitz."

  2. Oh Leeny, I've failed you! Some movies I know so many quotes from, but I can't seem to recognize these, hmmm.
"Someday, all of this will be yours." "What, the curtains?"

  6. CM, I think you're right on that first one as well. Did Tom Hanks say that?
"Steady as a rock." "Yes, but this is my shootin' hand." *shaky hand rises*

  7. Okay, we've got two winners on the first one: It was Apollo 13, and it was Tom Hanks. Now, who did Tom Hanks play?

If, after a while, we don't get any more answers, I'll put in other lines from the movies as more clues.

  9. Okay, first one done. Now for some more clues.

    1. Apollo 13, Tom Hanks as Jim Lovell.

    2. "Americans become very annoyed when their children are stolen."
"Let's just take that note to the American Embassy and not get any more involved in this!"

    3. "I promise not to faint, Doctor, if you promise not to eat garlic the night before an operation."
"I don't know what to do, Doctor, I have TB."

    4. "He graduated cum laude from Harvard but flunked right out of Berlitz."
"Ed, I want you to taste my strudel."

For these next ones, we'll just have to go with movie titles because different characters/actors are saying the different lines.
