Is anyone else offended by this latest commercial (those of you who watched American Idol got to see it)? It has the King doing rap promoting the SpongeBob Squarepants meal, so it's aimed at small kids I would think. It's constantly showing hot babes with square butts (it's a sexist way to put it but that's their intention). At the end it has a guy on the couch saying to his friend "Booty is Booty!" Come on! Shame on you BK! Or am I just a crabby old lady??????

You're not a crabby old lady... well, if you are, I am too! I don't like that commercial at all. If it weren't for The King I'd have no idea what the ad was for.
There are commercials playing here now in Spanish with English sub-titles. It's for taco shells. I'm not thrilled with those either.
OR... the little girl who chastizes her mother for feeding her 'minced' fish. And Mom goes to get a different brand. Irritates me... who's raising whom?!OK -- off my soap box now !

I was a bit surprised at the BK commercial myself, but I haven't liked Burger King's marketing since they started using the creepy king.

I think the ad is in very poor taste! I thought I was the only one who was an old fart and thought it was bad! I agree with 2Pop, our culture is all screwed up! Ok, off MY soapbox now too!

Considering Nickelodeon is basically a children's network, I am surprised that they even allowed Spongebob Squarepants to be put in this kind of commercial. Although I wouldn't put anything past MTV.

Ok, I think I might be able to clear things up. The man that is sitting on the couch at the end of the ad is Sir-Mix-A-Lot saying "Booty is Booty" because he did the song "Baby Got Back". The reference is to that video & as well as the dancing, but I agree that it is a bad commercial that certainly lacks taste.

And this isn't the first one. BK has a habit of making really, really offensive commercials. Anyone remember the Paris Hilton car wash? Talk about disgusting! I thought it was soft porn until the BK logo showed up. And the "hot buns" teacher about a year ago? That's why I don't eat at Burger King. And, yeah, the king is creepy, too.

We love BBC! We buy a lot of dvds from Amazon.UK, since we have a region free player, and get many of the programs that we can't usually get here in the USA.
In fact, most of our dvds lately have been from the UK and BBC especially. (And I would LOVE to come to the UK sometime also!)

I think the latest Burger King commercial is very effective. It's certainly getting a lot of attention! I also think it's funny. Am I going to eat at Burger King? No--I'm a vegetarian. My favorite commercials are those that feature cats. I even like commercials for allergy medication (as long as a cat is included)!

Oh yes, have you seen that one for Bounce? With the cat looking (and singing) in through the window? There's a ferret in the commercial too! I don't even use bounce but am tempted to get it just to reward them! And I do agree with you that BK has gotten a whole lot of free publicity out of the commercial!

I think this commercial is great. I think maybe you all aren't giving it enough of a chance. See what you think after you watch this 2-minute version of the song on YouTube, with captions at the bottom so you can learn the lyrics yourself (and maybe impress your friends and kids by singing along when the commercial comes on TV - they will think you are cool if you do that).

I thought the commercial was kinda funny too... although I don't think it's suited for children.
I agree with those who have indicated the BK King is creepy. He -is-. But I can appreciate a well-done parody, and that commercial did a pretty good job. I was more offended by the original lyric "I like big butts and I cannot lie" (lol)

to be honest, im very digusted with msot of what's on the tube anymore. espeically the commercials. there used to be a time when primtime tv was souring, so i'd watch cartoons. now most of that is offensive too. none of the stuff *we* knew or cared about. when i Am subjected to commercials and most of telly it just reminds me of what society has become. even my friends and family abroad are disgusted. i have gotten to the point where i rarely watch us tv or movies. i made a list of various websites that play online tv, and have them where i can easily acess them from both my new iphone and from my computer. i sit and watch nice things, free, without so much of the crap. but it does get me.....why society allows this stuff, but when it comes to really important matters, they don't do anything. many people even promote it. it makes me want to do sume serious **** slapping!
i do like the Bk king tho......it's allt he promotion of sexual stuff, and other immoralities of society which are known to sell because crap sells, morals don't....and anywhere they can fit it they do, more than ever. im glad im not the only one with a sopabox!
