  1. I have 3 orphaned kittens appoximately 4 weeks old. They all eat very well and are active but I am not sure how much they are peeing and pooping. We are just now teaching them to use the litter box, but I have only seen one poop in it, but I have seen that it was wet. My daughter lets them run free in her room, so they may have been going under the bed or somewhere we don't see. When I stimulated their bottoms before they peed every time, but now not so much and get impatient when I try to poop them. Do I still need to stimulate them or are they old enough to do it on their own?

  2. This is kind of like asking how deep a hole is. Some kittens mature by this age (most, I would say) and don't need stimulation. On the other hand, some do still need a little help. I assume that they are eating cat food now, since you don't mention bottles. Sometimes, it helps to gently nudge/massage their little abdomens to get them to poo. They may be covering up the poo, and they may also not need to poo. Some kittens don't go every day. If you want to make sure they're not constipated, a little veggie oil in the food will do it. I think you'd smell if they were going under the bed, but keep in mind that at this age, they may not be able to make it back to a litter box in time. Letting them run free far from a litterbox may be dangerous for your floor's health! :)

I would not worry too much unless you see them straining or rubbing their bottoms on the floor, or if they go several days without poop.
