  1. How fun DM!!! Thank goodness your SCH finally did that. I hope things are going well with that situation.
Thanks MC..we are not very religious, even though we want to start going to church and the catholic faith is just confusing to us since we have no clue..lol

  2. I know, most people find us Catholics "mysterious" and "confusing"! LOL

  3. I'm a bit of a lapsed Catholic and I find it slightly confusing too :). The first communion follows on from the first confession of sins too. (from my memory)

  17. OK, you got me going about First Communion, CM and MC! I am a lapsed Catholic. I went to Catholic schools for ten years so I should know more than I now recall of the seven sacraments. After refreshing my memory with a bit of online research, here they are:

Baptism (Christening) administered by a priest which absolves the person of the Original Sin committed by Adam and Eve thus bringing the person into a state of Grace

Holy Eucharist (or Holy Communion) at age 6 or 7 in which a person receives the body of Christ (symbolized by a wafer of unleavened bread which has been transformed during a Mass celebrated by a priest using the words attributed to Christ at the Last Supper when he transformed bread and wine to his body and blood)

Penance (Confession) in which the person confesses sins to a priest, asks for forgiveness and is absolved of them and performs a penance (e.g. saying prayers)

Confirmation (Chrismation) in which a young adult reaffirms his or her commitment to the precepts of the Roman Catholic Church and acknowledges the Pope as its head. The Pope is recognized as speaking through divine inspiration (i.e. God's mouthpiece)

    Matrimony

Anointing of the Sick (known prior to Vatican II as Extreme Unction; informally as the "Last Rites")

    Holy Orders (becoming a priest)

  18. Very cute picture of Wilma, MC! I can't imagine resisting her invite to give her a tummy rub!

  19. When she had tummy surgery after eating the bottom off my Crocs for work and getting a bowel obstruction I had to rub Aloe on the scar. She kept chewing at it and irritating it so the vet recommended rubbing her belly with aloe. Now when she sees me with a bottle of lotion she "throws" herself over and expects a belly rub! Of course I can't resist. Such loud purrs it gets!

  20. I got as far as my first Holy communion and confession, but not as far aas being confirmed. Yet. Will have to sort that if I'm to marry in the church :).

Posted 2 years ago by metsa #

  21. What a cute thing to do. She remembers all the love and comfort you gave her after her surgery! :)

  22. It's never too late, Metsa. :) My brother decided to go back to the church and just had his boys (12 and 14) get baptized, confirmed and given their first communion in one mass. Whew! That's a lot of catching up!

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  23. I am confirmed but I must admit, I too, have lapsed in my Catholocism. I took a class last year at the church literally a stone's throw from my house. There was supposed to be follow up with us two in the class to help re-integrate us back to the church. That part fell thru and I must admit I feel uncomfortable going to church on my own. Maybe it is because I don't quite understand it all.

  26. When I was growing up, the mass was still being said in Latin and the air always seemed thick with incense. We wore uniforms to school. The girls had to wear head coverings to mass. I forget what they were called. They looked like a lace doily or scarf. :)

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  27. Hi, Kilroy. :)

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  28. Ok I have failed! Its creamy fettucine tuna helper for supper! What icky bad for me stuff. I am starting my surgery "diet" on monday so I am emptying the house of all the bad stuff! Guess I will suffer thru it (YUM tuna juice for the girls!)

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  29. Hi KW (waving). Did you get the photos I sent?

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  30. Lol, Molly! I love fettuccine tuna helper! It's one of the few things I can actually cook :)

It does help to empty the house of that "bad" good stuff, that's for sure! I'm writing down what I eat to hold myself accountable - the gummi bears, too. It seems to help!
