2 week old rescued kitten won't go #2!

(4 posts)
  1. my husband found a kitten at work on wednesday & brought him home to me. we are guessing he is about 2 weeks old (teeth buds coming in, eyes open, wobbly on feet). he is eating a lot (thank goodness!) but won't go poo. it has only been 2 days, but i feel like he is eating too much to not be going. also, when stimulated his pee comes out in drops, and there isn't very much of it, is that right? he is starting to purr & loves to be held, so i'm assuming he isn't feeling too bad. he doesn't seem to have a belly ache from constipation or anything. he would rather sit with me now than be in his bed? i don't know if that is normal or too needy, but i certainly think it is cute! :)

also, for those who are worried about him getting proper care- we have him in a comfy bed inside a covered kitty cage (a blanket on top of a heating pad with a snuggle buddy for him to sleep with). we are feeding him replacement milk out of a bottle & i think he eats about 4-5 tablespoons a day, give or take a bit depending on how awake he is. we took him to the vet when my husband found him and gave him a dewormer just in case, and we are taking him this weekend to check on his sneezing. any advice is helpful, but i am mostly worried about him not going potty!

  2. This is a popular subject here at TDK. Go to the main page and you will see on the left hand side a list of words in pink, under TAGS..poop is one of them, it will connect you to many different posts on this subject. If you can afford it, it would always be good to go for a vet visit to rule out other problems.

  3. Hi, RMarion. Welcome to the Daily Kitten! 2BP is right--this issue is one of the most commonly asked by people who are hand-raising orphaned or abandoned kittens. I added some tags to this thread. Click on "constipation" and you will find lots of responses from people who are knowledgable about this issue.

Please keep us posted on how your new little one does. :)

  4. well, all of the things i've seen on google and such are saying to wait the poopy thing out a bit before a vet visit, but i am going to ask when we check on his sniffles. any advice on the pee thing? i don't know how much pee is normal, should it just be the drops for a few seconds or should he be peeing more??
