Ally had a seizure today. Well I think she had a seizure. It was really bad, and I'm not exactly sure what her future holds. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow. Please keep her in your thoughts/prayers (if it isn't silly to pray for a cat).

It is never silly to pray for a cat. I will say a prayer to my two beloved kitties to do their best to help your kitty. I lost my precious Persian Peekaboo to a stroke last year. So I know what you are going through. Stay positive and hope for the best.

I sometimes think prayer kept my Tessie alive (with quality of life for her) longer than she might have otherwise. The concerns of your heart are never silly to God

Prayers coming Ally's way!
My Bob had a seizure last summer and went through various tests to determine why the seizure happened. They never did find an explanation. The vet told me if it happened again, I should put him on Phenobarbital. I did happen again after 6 weeks and we started him on the meds. He's had no seizures since.
There can be many different reasons for seizures. Did Ally get into something that may have poisoned her (I'm leaning toward the Nutro food I was feeding Bob having caused his seizures). The two vets I took him to both told me poisoning of some kind was the most likely cause. Also, did she maybe chew on an electrical cord or something - that can cause a seizure, too. Also, has she been feeling alright? A spike in temperature can cause a seizure.
The vets also told me cats can have a one-time seizure and never have another one, so keep your hope!I hope she's alright! I was so scared and felt so helpless when Bobby had his. Bobby was very scared and jumpy for a few days after his. Scritches to baby Ally!

It's very scary to see anyone have a seizure, and it must have been especially scary because she's so small. My husband has had seizures in the past due to low blood sugar from being diabetic.
Also I had a beagle that had seizures, and I was told it was common in beagles, and she lived a long and happy life. My prayers go to you and Ally, and healthy vibes. -
What type of cat is Ally? Is she a certain breed? I know my Molly, being a Maine Coon, was at risk for having them. The vet said there is such a high demand for Maine Coons that sometimes breeders are a bit unscrupulous resulting in too close of relatives mating and mating too often! This is just a thought! Please keep us posted

Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner! We've not had any more seizures, but Ally just isn't quite herself. I'm watching her very closely! I'm just so worried! I want to thank all of you for your prayers/support and comfort. Please any info you have about seizures share! The more stories I hear, the more comforting it is that she will get through this.

I did look around the house for wires chewed/plants eaten. We have two small children, so all medication and chemicals are locked up. I didn't find anything that looked like the culprit. I was worried because it happened right after she ate and I read certain cat food can trigger it. I've just fed her the same thing again, but no seizures. She is eating 2nd Step KMR and Meow Mix kitten food. My husband thought she was just having a really hard time pooping, but I'm pretty sure the poop was a result of the seizure.

{{{{LB}}}}..... I'm praying so hard for you and little Ally!..... my little orangie, Milo, had seizures (from epilepsey) and had to be put on pheno for the rest of his life, but did fine, and tho I had to give him a pill every day thereafter, he lived to be 14!...... she is so young, it may just be a fluke!... your vet will tell..... hoping everything works out for the best!

**happy thoughts and bright light** poor ally. I hope she's doing better and that you are too. I'm epileptic so I know how it feels to be helpless. Has she run into anything? Maybe jumped and hit her head? It's normal for her to feel weird. But hopefully she will get through this and be ok. [[hugs]]

Bob was not well for a few days after his. He was lethargic for a day, and plain tired for the next few days. He was also really jumpy and anxious - any sudden movements scared him, I would have to approach him where he could see me, especially if I was going to touch or et him. He smelled funny after the seizuer, too. He lost his bowels the second time he had a seizure, so that contributed to the smell, too, but just in general, he didn't smell like he usually does. Also, Milo avoided him which he never does - it could be the smell or it could be that he was still spooked after witnessing the seizure.
One thing I found out is that during a seizure, they lose consciousness and afterwards they have no memory of what happened. That's reasurring, but also explains their confusion.
I looked everywhere for cords he could have chewed or something he could have gotten into and found nothing. I'm leaning toward the Nutro food having caused it now, because I've read about that happening with both cats and dogs and I found that once I switched the boys off it, Milo's diarrhea stopped and Bob stopped crying all night. I kept feeding him the Nutro for at least 6 months after his seizures but he never had another one.It could be he just had too much of it in his system, or it could be that the meds kept the seizures at bay.
The vet told me we can try and wean Bob off the pheno after a year or two if he doesn't have another seizure. So far, so good! He also left it up to me if I wanted to start him on the meds because I have to give them to him every 12 hrs. and with long-term use, there's an increased chance of liver problems. I get his blood tested every 4-6 months to make sure everything is alright.
I'm praying for little Ally! Let me know if you have any questions. I studied everything I could find when Bobby had his and have asked his vet a million questions, as well.
If you ant to email me with questions, that's fine, too. My email is lotte200622 at yahoo dot com.
