  4. Hello everyone. I am having a glass of wine. I found Kiwee a home today. The woman stays at home with her kids, she will be a single cat. I think she will be well taken care of. This is her 3rd siamese, and she had a prada bag. I hope she will be spoiled rotten, just like she deserves.

    A toast to Kiwee!
    Cheers

  5. Congrats MerD!..... I'm soooooo partial to meezers!......

    ..... http://s597.photobucket.com/albums/tt51/AbbigaleViolet/Peaceful%20pictures/Paintings/?action=view&current=HPIM1570.jpg

here's the painting I did in my first class... it was in a park, which had sooo much green - a color I'm not a fan of, but we went in the park, and put our easels up, and were told to paint any scene we saw that was interesting!.... I chose a bridge with a big tree in front and a palm in the back... with lots and lots of foliage/trees behind..... about half way thru painting, a little girl in a red shirt ran over the bridge, so of course, I had to include her...... it's my first attempt at actual painting.... not too good, but got some good pointers from my teacher!.......

.... my favortie story from this class was that there was a "famous" Tampa painter in the class, and tho he needed no instruction, he set up right behind me and my friend, who were sharing a card table to place our supplies on.... when things were done, and we all got to see each others paintings, he had not only painted the same trees/bridge, but had painted me and my friend "painting" the same thing!.... it was really special!.... LOL - I'm now imortalized in paint!

  6. that is a cool painting AV! I love it. IT is not that green here.

  7. ..... I am so excited about exploring the "artist" (if there is one) in me!.... I've always wanted to paint, and now that I'm finally in a place in my life that I have a time to do this, I've decided to jump in!.... I have another 5 week class series starting tomorrow, and I can't wait!.... ..... I did like painting the park scape... it really was a lot of green.... but I learned so much, just of technique and "tricks" on working the mediums...... the most interesting thing to me was the calibur of people that showed up for that "session"....there were a lot of really trained local artists, that just showed up for the "fun of it"!....... I was in heaven!

  8. What a wonderfully rewarding experience!

Posted 2 years ago by MerD #

  9. ...it really was a great experience!.... MerD, I have to thank you again for your advise on the "wine and cheese" party a few months back!..... I fixed my MIL a platter of some of the suggestions you put up for a function she had, and she totally "rocked" her seniors..... she felt like a super-star!.....

  10. You are most welcome AV! :-)

Posted 2 years ago by MerD #

  11. Oh wow, your painting is amazing....how much are you going to charge for that masterpiece?

Posted 2 years ago by linksboomerang #

  12. LOL!.... LB , my friend and I were so "obsessed" with the painting the "famous" artist did with us in it, we were about to offer to buy that!.... but he didn't seem to take the hint!.. :(

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  13. Is that your first painting?

Posted 2 years ago by linksboomerang #

  14. Yes, the first I've ever done in a class..... I did try to paint Cindy's hibiscus when I first bought my supplies.... but it was so "flat" and not really good.... I was just trying to honor Cindy!.... when I get better, I'll do a really good one from Ron's picture and mail it to him and Loretta!.... but yes, that's my "first official try"!.......

  15. Wow! If you'd never tried all that hidden talent would have went to waste!

Posted 2 years ago by linksboomerang #

  16. AV, you really are quite good with the lighting and shading. You've got talent, girl!

I'm off to bed, thunderstorms kept waking me up the last few nights.

  17. i'm going to bed now, but before I do, I'm setting out a platter of all different kinds of cheeses and crackers. a platter of cut fruit, and vegetables and dip. oh no, i almost forgot the sliced pepperoni !!!

good night all, and pleasant dreams...

  18. I HATE trying to alter patterns. Grrrrr!!! I made the bloomers for my hula outfit, but they are too short! I'm sure one of my shorter hula sisters will be able to wear them. I think I'm gonna keep my day job! lol

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  19. LOL KW!... I "know" how to sew, but I don't have the patience for it!... ((hugs for your hula costumes)))

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  20. Thanks, AV. I haven't sewn clothing in years, but the trouble was trying to alter an old halloween costume pattern (court jester--ha!) into a plain pair of bloomers. Fortunately, I have plenty of fabric so I can try again. :)

  21. Best of luck! ...... the "little" I know of sewing, I respect so much!!! My mother used to "smock".... and she was an expert!.....

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  22. My mother sewed most of our clothes (six kids!) as we were growing up. One year she made me a dress that had smocking and entered it in our state fair. She won a ribbon. I hated outgrowing some of the things she made. She had to practically wrestle with me to get me to stop wearing a couple of outgrown dresses! lol

  23. ...that's something I sooooo respect in my Mom (she's almost 80 now!)... when I went to college, she made me so many cute dresses that I used to go thru so many functions ...... they (of course) fit me to a tee... and were so unique..... I think that was her art.....!

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  24. .... she also "smocked" the cutest dresses for my daughter when she was young!.....

  25. I'm watching the third episode of the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency on HBO. It is so good!

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  26. Not sure I get that channel! which one is it on?..... Good night all, got a big day tomorrow!

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  27. Good evening all. I am watching that show too, KW. MerD, which kitties are you going to be keeping?

Posted 2 years ago by SylMiaFelixMomma #

  28. Hi, SMM! Have you read any of the books the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency is based upon?

Posted 2 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  29. No..I haven't, KW.

Posted 2 years ago by SylMiaFelixMomma #

  30. They are even better than the mini-series. Alexander McCall Smith just came out with the tenth book in the series. The HBO production has added a character (the hairdresser) and blended some of the stories together, but they are doing an outstanding job with it.
