  1. Friends, I have been forced by my children to join Facebook. When I finally figured that out, I found a slew of invites from people, some of whose names I recorgniced from TDK. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to accept those friend invites and I fear some of you may get several 'accepts' since I just kept hitting the ENTER button. Sorry.

My 15-year-old grandson is coming to help me over the weekend. I feel so dumb. But at least I do know how to use a paper and ink dictionary, something that totally stumps him.

  2. LOL CBM!.... I haven't joined Facebook, Myspace, or any other site for that very reason!..... TDK is the only internet site I'm on, and thanks to KittenMaster for making it so easy, have figured out to post and navigate my way around!.... I could never keep up with others!.... LOL, and good for you for trying!

  3. I had no choice, actually. Not only my children insisted but I needed to do it because I've been elected the president of our local BMW club chapter and some of our 4000 chapter are younger and only communicate with Facebook and cell phone texting.

My children, who aren't really children as they are 40 and 43, have been laughing at me all week as I tried to navigate the Facebook sign-up policies. Facebook rejected me because it thought my name was made up. My first name is Delight. That's what my parents named me. Facebook thought I was in some sort of shady business. If they could have seen my rather buxom self, they would have changed their minds.

In case any of you are trying to figure out my age, please be advised that even though my children are 40 and 43, I am still only in my mid-forties. (Damn kids refuse to lie about their age.)

  4. Oooh, yeay, another Facebook'er!! You'll get the hang of it, CBM!
It's a neat way to catch up with friends old and new, see people's pictures, and I enjoy playing games - eventhough quite a few TDK'ers keep beating me at them!

  5. LOL CBM! Can't believe they gave you trouble over your name - even Ange's Max has a Facebook page! (Myboys are a bit jealous!)

I was thinking of trying to talk my dad into joining - it's such an easy way to stay in touch - once you figure it out!

  6. CBM, I have sons age 21 and 22, yet I am only 21 myself! ;-p

  7. I send you - yet another - friend's invite, CBM! :)

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  8. CBM and CW, LOL. KW once told me to say that I was a child bride if anyone questions the small age difference between the kids and me. The strange thing is my once younger sister is now my older sister(until she reads this). My kids know it's in their best interests to lie about my age.
I refuse to join MySpace or Facebook etc. Still holding out at the moment.

  9. I understand completely, Moonshadow, I was the firstborn in my family but now all my five siblings are older than I. The funniest thing is that when I explain that to people the men all look confused and the women all understand immediately.

  10. LOL, LOL!.... I wonder daily, where did those 18 and 21 yr old kids come from, and how can they be my "babies" when I'm barely out of college myself!..... (I don't wanna grow up)......

  13. CBM...your not alone...I know not what I'm doing, & hope that everyone on Facebook understands if I should accidently 'click' the wrong thing. :(

  14. Oh yeah..have to add you to my facebook friends too CBM :)

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  15. CBM, I have sent you a facebook friend request as well! LOL - I've been on facebook for a while, but I can't keep up with all the stuff people send. I must sit down and really look at what is going on! Meanwhile, aside from TDKers, it is amazing all the different people who have sent me friend requests. I think it is pretty cool really.

Posted 2 years ago by Rubia in CA, 4/28 #

  16. Hi Rubia,I think it's cool too that I have friends from all over including Brussels, Russia,Indonesia,Philippines,Oz,UK,Spain, etc. Of course it helps that I play Mafia Wars which is great fun although rather time consuming, have a look at it if you have time.

  17. Hey, remember that 5-year-old that gave birth--that was me!!!!

My friend has asked me to join Facebook so I can see her pictures, but after that business with Multiply (strange men were contacting me, my husband was NOT amused!) I hesitate.

Posted 2 years ago by Sheba's Mom in Phoenix, AZ 10/8 #

  18. the first (and almost only thing) I figured out on both Facebook and Multiply was how to ignore a request...Ron would not be amused either!

    Posted 2 years ago by 2bpurring #

  19. On Facebook you can make the privacy settings so that only your friends can see your profile/photos,etc and you can always refuse requests too. Nobody bothers me much unless you count being "poked" by Tigger, hehehe.

  20. cheetaboy, i mentioned this in another thread which i cna't find...i used to belong to alot of social network sites,. i only found scum and trouble...including one crazy girl who decided to flirt with indian boys for attention and stuff. she was flirting a former friend f mine who had a gf. she would go on to much stranger things, and offensive behaviors......then all of a sudden trying to act like she found religion and was suddenly pure. she married an indian guy stupid enough to fall for her, and has been using the internet to make herself a celebrity. sadly she converted to the same religion i am of, but is using it as a toy to exploit people with. last year she tried to have me arrested for talking because i wrote a blog entry citing some things that she had done and info about her. she then tried to contact some of my family members and talk $h!t about me to them, and tried to find out personal info about me. she also has a band of equally strange friends who spent time abusing me and trying to make a bad reputation of me. it's like anyone who doesn't agree to her or help her in her dirty actions gets the crappy stick. she's from texas....orginally readmond washington and moved to texas after she married. i had filed a counter police report on her. i've also encountered many sex freaks and other wierdos. those social network sites are breeding grounds for scum. there are some rare nice storis that can come from them, but they are mostly very bad. you get a window on the worst of society...something i wish in many ways that i hadn't...though i did learn alot from it. i was even afraid to join here at first because it seemed everywhere i went, there were some kind of scumbags. thankfully i have no problems with anyone herere and no scum (that i'm aware of!) n i do have an orkut account due to my husband is on there also, but i left the other places - facebook, myspace, bebo, hi5, etc. they were a waste of time, energy, and were nothing but scummy experiences. im not even always pleased with orkut either, but i stay because my catface is there only! so be warned!

    this is her -

    and her freind -

    http://awayfromourheritage.blogspot.com/2008/08/mai-harinder.html

and there other wierdos like them alot in these places. i have become very strict with who i accept and talk to. (anyone from tdk is welcome to contact me tho)

  21. You can also block specific people if anyone in particular bothers you.

Posted 2 years ago by Buttercup #

  22. there are hacks available that can counteract some of those blocks, and people find other ways to get around being blocked with fake ids and other stuff

Posted 2 years ago by Nirmal #

  23. I've been on Facebook for a while now and have had no problems at all.

Posted 2 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  24. Me, neither - I think it's been over a year for me now.

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  25. Oh, I am gonna HAVE to do it! I have been meaning to join Facebook but just haven't. I have hesitated as I feel too "old" for it to begin with, think I could never figure it out, wouldn't have any friends, AND I have heard potential employers check to see if you have a Facebook page (apparently they don't think highly of FB). I s'pose when I am off for surgery I will try to navigate Facebook! I hope some of you will be my buds! :D

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  26. YAY!!!! *clapping hands* You'll have PLENTY of friends - I believe we've got 30 or more TDK'ers there.
The games are great when I'm bored at work and it's a great way to catch up with people, as well.

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  27. I am gonna pick up Bobby and Mi at Walgreens tomorrow! They are gonna be waiting for me so we can pick out surgical masks and little paw booties for their trip to the hospital with me!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  28. If I can do it MC, you can. LOL I don't play any of the games and some of the applications are getting a bit overwhelming for me. I can't keep up. I may just stop those one day. It is a great place to stay current with your friends. My son won't let me be a friend on his LOL Probably a good idea !

Posted 2 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  29. 2P, I ignore most of the apps, too. Yes, some of the youngsters' pages are pretty "scary". I'm friends with one of the triplets I used to take care of. When I first moved in with her family, she was 6, now she's 20 and in college.

Yay, MC!!! Bobby and Mi are going to have quite an interesting time with you!

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  30. i do amdit i miss the apps...they were fun. but not enough to go back!
