I'm back! Some of you may remember me from my desperate plea for help and advice about 3 weeks ago. My new Applehead Siamese was camped out underneath my bed, not eating and crying constantly. With the advice of many wise kitty mom's on this site...Jackson thinks I'm the center of the universe and he likes to try and sleep on my face! He is very noisy (duh!) and has lot's to say. He is getting big and eats a lot. He is a STINK-BUTT though. I'm starting to wonder! I've never had such a stinky kitty...or maybe it has just been THAT long and I don't remember. At any rate I'm feeding him kitten dry food that was recommended by a member here on this site as well as wet food, a small portion, twice a day. I had been mixing his wet food with kitten formula as was suggested, but I've weaned him off of that now. I bought him a toothbrush and toothpaste yesterday...NOT looking forward to that task! And I bought nail clippers and accomplished that easily yesterday, though I fear that now that he knows the drill that next time will not be nearly as easy! LOL He's a smart little bugger! One night he was being so naughty when I was trying to go to sleep that I finally had to escort him from my room and shut the door. Well I heard him ripping around the living room like a crazy kitty and about 10 minutes later it was silence. I was hoping that maybe he had fallen asleep but then I heard his little paws under the door and then I heard this pathetic, soft, short little 'meow' as if to say, "I'm sorry mom..." So I got up from the bed, opened the door and he was sitting there all prim and proper up on his honches, looking at me. He did not bolt into the room as I thought he would. Instead he stayed right there and gave another sad little meow and I used my stern mommy voice that my kids are very familiar with and I said, "Now are you going to behave yourself??", "Meow", Jackson said. And then I said, "Now you get into that bed and let's go to sleep" and as if that cat were a dog he ran on in and jumped (climbed) up on the bed and plopped down. LOL. What a smart kitty I have! Ok...so now my problem is that little Jackson is getting a little bigger and he's not afraid of anything it seems. He's getting a bit aggressive. Like tonight I was on the laptop...IGNORING HIS MAJESTY...and he was kind of curled up by my arms. All of a sudden the devil got a hold of him and he just started biting me! But it wasn't nasty...it was like he wanted me to play with him. But I can't have him biting especially with kids around so I did not play into that at all and I got up and walked away which prompted him to come after me. He got over his little 'fit' and now he is fine. But do any of you have any suggestions for me? Especially those with experience with Siamese? Also...i have lot's of great pics of Jackson...but where do I post them for you all to see? Alright...that was wayyyyy longer than I intended! Can't wait to read your responses. Take care!

He sounds purrfectly normal. That was a great idea, when he starts behavior you don't like, get up and walk away and ignore him. But do praise etc when he does stuff you do like. As smart as he is, he should quickly catch on! Congrats!

I am so happy to hear that little Jackson has come to his senses and adores you now.
So far as posting pictures, many of us have Catster pages. It's free. Just click on one of our pictures. If it takes you to Catster you can see our babies plus set up your own page. Try it, we would love to see more pictures of the little devil.
Mama cats sometimes train their babies by putting their paw on the babies' neck and hissing lightly. You hold the head down but not too hard. Sometimes that works to teach a kitten not to do something again. Walking away like you did, or ignoring him, is also a good lesson.

I doubt he's stinky by nature. At this age, he's used to momcat cleaning him up, so you may have to give him a little help. Sometimes, siamese don't mind the water, but either way, give him a gentle bath with some gentle antibacterial soap and lukewarm water. Dry him thoroughly with a towel and hair dryer set on low heat. You may have to do this until he starts really cleaning himself. Won't be too long; he doesn't want to have water baths, either!

All of my Siamese cats would get in a bathtub full of water and me, so you may have some fun with Jackson as time goes on!
You might want to clean his little bottom as FosterMom suggests, and just remember that since he was taken away from his mother a bit too soon, Jackson sees you as his mommy. You're doing everything right, and thanks so much for posting this update.
He is such a little love, and so lucky, too!

Re: the stinky butt issue, our newest boy, Schatzi had this issue. We discovered he needed his anal glands expressed. I'd never experienced that with a kitty though I'd heard about it with a dog. The vet did it once and showed us, using a warm wet cloth and gently washing you can see stinky clear fluid express from the glands around the anus. We did it once a few weeks later and we have not had any problem with it since. I've since read about it and of course like all things with a cat it can vary by cat, but sometimes it never comes back and sometimes it is always a problem and sometimes it is never a problem! Just like a kitty! Good luck.

Thanks for all of your suggestions! One question about the hygiene thing...have any of you ever used those wipes they sell for cats? I thought I saw some that were kind of like used as a subsitute for a bath. Also...any good bathing tips?? I've never had a cat who enjoyed water on MY terms...only on theirs! Imagine that. Jackson is pooping well. He is consistent (down to a general time of the day) and the poop is well formed, consistency and all that.

Many here have used the wipes on kittens. I know when Sheba gets a poopy stuck in her butt-fur---I can smell it as soon as she jumps onto my lap! I use a wipe to remove it and any smell left over.

I use the wipes all the time on Emma, she is a cannonball with fur and doesn't clean her back half well so she regularly gets wiped down. She actually enjoys it and likes the smell of the wipes.

Go with the wipes! I highly recommend them, my Mollycat has anal gland issues as well. That stuff stinks! I have been told by the Humane Society that if the glands need expressing they can make the kitty uncomfortable. The only way kitty can let you know is by biting. It is his form of "communication" with you. Once he gets neutered he will also be less aggressive. Right now he is all KITTEN!

Good to hear Jackson's realised he's one lucky little kitten in a kind and loving home! Sorry, but I had to laugh at the stinky butt comment - both Pickle and Button have a tendancy to fart when really happy (!), and soon earned the nicknames Pickle Smelly Bum and Button Rancid Arse!!!

OMG MadCat...Jackson passes gas too. I had my laptop on a pillow in bed last night...making this original post and as soon as I was done Jackson plopped his purring little butt right on the pillow and farted...silent but deadly...OMG. PUTRID. And he just looked at me lovingly...

Man, Betty and Wilma are the first cats I have ever had that have audible farts! They too, give me that precious innocent face afterward! So glad they are not alone in their "problem"!

We gave our kitty Squeaky Shoes that name because her meow was just a little squeak when we first got her. Her meow only got a little louder but her other end squeaks really LOUD when she farts. And she, too, always looks around with this sweet little face like she thinks maybe I just let loose with that dreadful smell.

Rocky is nuclear with the 'airishness'. He's actually woken me up from a dead sleep. He's so lovable though I can't get mad at him.
