  2. Ginger, you and Victor take wonderful care of each other. I'm glad you didn't listen to him and called 9-1-1. I hope the doctors are able to figure out all that is going on and fix it! You are both in my prayers. {{{hugs}}}

  8. OK, now they tell us the angiogram showed no heart damage, so it was NOT a true heart attack (YAY!) but they are not sure what is going on. (Boo!) They think it is heart related, maybe diabetes related, but not part of his congestive heart failure, because the symptoms were quite different. So for now we are just waiting on more tests. It is soooo frustrating!

  9. Good News!!! No heart damage is music to the ears.. Please hang in there RW!! I will continue to pray for Victor!!

  10. OMG GINGER! I wish I could be there to take you to visit Victor! Thank God it was not a true heart attack! Maybe it was angina. There is a connection between diabetes and heart troubles but that is too long and complicated to go into here. Just know you are a true HERO for calling 911 and not listening to Victor! I am so proud of you! Please know that I am still praying vigorously for both of you and sending healing white lite to the hospital for Victor! Keep us updated, we all want to know how Victor is doing!

  11. I was wondering about angina because when the EMTs gave him the nitro spray it lessened the chest pain quite a bit. On the pain scale it was an 8 out of 10, and after the nitro it went down to about a 5. We got a letter yesterday saying they have approved his long term disability thru work, so now we will at least get 60% of his salary, plus a refund of the COBRA payments-almost $4000--for the last 2 months. The County where he works will now have to pay our health insurance for 6 months. After that, we will have to pay it again, which means our savings will be gone in 4 years, but then he will be 65 and can get on Medicare. It feels like a juggling game trying to make everything fit into a time line. Our retirement will certainly be less comfortable than we planned, but I don't care as long as we have each other (and our fur kids).
    I can't believe this country doesn't have national health care! I'm all for capitalism, but it seems like health care should be a right, not a privilege dependent on bean counting insurance executives who decide when and if you deserve care! Our Mollycat is a prime example--with national health care she would have already had her surgery and be pain free! My friends in Canada tell me the stories we hear about the lonnnng waits to get care are bogus; they might wait longer for surgery that is non-urgent, but if you need surgery or to see a doc, you get in right away and pay nothing or a minimal charge. We could do that if we really wanted to, but the insurance CEOs might not be able to get their Jaguars and homes in the Hamptons!
    Sigh. Sorry. I get wound up on the subject, especially after once working for Blue Cross and knowing the dirty tricks they pull. Ok, I promise--soap box put away in the closet. Thank you all for the prayers-they mean so much and the support from all of you really makes going thru this easier. Victor and I love all you lots!

  12. Let's hope Victor will continue to improve. I agree with you entirely! I mean, here we are the richest country in the world and we don't take care of our own! Working on the other side, trying to get stuff covered for patients absolutely makes me livid! How can we NOT have healthcare coverage for all? Especially our most vulnerable, our children? I am right up on the soapbox with you! I am so happy that the coverage has kicked in from Victors work. God works miracles everyday! :D Hang in there my friend!

  13. {{{Ginger & Victor}}} Many more hugs coming your way! Hang in there, I know it's not easy but you have to do what you have to do.

  14. RainingWolf, I totally understand your getting angry at the insurance CEO's! I found out the hard way that because I forgot to pay my car insurance on time this month so now I have to pay the balance in full. I managed to pay it but had to put it on a credit card that I really didn't want to use. Yes, those CEO's and SVP's of the insurance companies (like AIG for one) get to keep their nice mercedes, houses in the Hamptons, as well as their first class trips to wherever they want to vacation to. It is the insurance companies and banks that are making me very angry right now (need some chocolate to calm me down) as they are the reason all of us are paying for them now.

    Sending Victor healing white light that they can find what is the cause of his health issues and get him well again. Sending you lots of consoling hugs.

  15. Ginger I am so very thankful that you called 911, it probably saved Victor's life, so you too will have those tomorrows together. My prayers have been unceasing for Victor and for you. Prayers of strength and courage to you both, and thanksgiving for your ability to get the disability filed. It isn't the best situation, but it is better than what you were facing and that caused way too much stress. Adding prayers that the insurance red tape will clear and that Victor will get the care that he deserves. I hope you know that you are both loved dearly.

  16. Well, the docs decided the problem was a complication of both his diabetes and his epilepsy and were going to send him home today. But I just got a call and his oxygen level suddenly went down to 80% an he was building up fluid around his heart and in his lungs--another episode of congestive heart failure. So he will be there a few more days. This is so hard on him, and I know this constant illness has to be so hard on his body. It worries me so much.

  18. Continued white light and prayers for you and Victor. And I'm right there with you on that soapbox about the need for health care as a right.

  19. Ginger, I'm so sorry you and Victor are going through this. Even though you were looking forward to having him come home, thank goodness this congestive episode happened while he was in hospital. Maybe now that they have seen how fast it comes on, they may be able to track down the trigger. {{{{{Ginger and Victor}}}}}

  20. Ginger I am with CBM on this one, very thankful this happened in the hospital instead of at home. Now they can make sure he is in better shape before releasing him. I know it is more difficult than I probably can comprehend, but if Victor has some time to be treated completely maybe he will have less visits to the hospital. That would be less stressful having him home more often. My prayers are unending. I do believe in the power of prayer, and I hope that some of God's peace reaches you and lets you know that there are so many that care about you both.

  21. Adding prayers that your problems will clear up and you will have smooth sailing soon.

  22. Continued prayers for Victor. I'm sorry he's not coming home yet, RW, but I agree that at least this episode happened in the hospital. ((Hugs))
