... for my parents' cat, Sam. He went to the emergency vet today with a bad limp and in much pain. The emergency vet didn't have x-ray facilities, so nothing is for sure, but she thinks his knee could be broken or it could be bone disease. (At least my Mum thinks that's what she said; she wasn't taking much in.) Either way, the outcome is unsure and he may need a serious op and months of recuperation. He got pain relief and he's going to his regular vet tomorrow to be x-rayed. Any good thoughts and wishes would be much appreciated -- he is a lovely boy and my parents love him very much (as do my brother and I).

Poor Sam, headbonks to him. How soon will it be before he can be seen by a vet with an X-ray? Does it help with the pain when the knee is splinted? If he can't bend it until they find out what's wrong, maybe he won't be in so much pain.

How does an emergency vet not have an x-ray machine???? Aren't most "emergencies" needing one?

Thank you all so much for keeping a thought for Sam. He is spending the day at the vet today and is having x-rays done and the vet will let us know what's going on with him this afternoon.
Sheba's Mom, it wasn't a specialised emergency clinic, we don't really have those. The local vets just take it in turns to be on call for emergencies and this Sunday afternoon it was the vet giving advice at a very large pet store in the city. She had access to Sam's medical records on computer, and gave him pain relief and everything, but the store doesn't have an x-ray machine.
Thanks again, all of you, it really means a lot!

Will keep Sam in my prayers. I hope he pulls through so he can have more painfree time with those who love him.
