I have had a rough weekend. Betty has now "locked" herself in the bathroom twice and I have had to pick the lock to get her out. Listening to her crying on the other side makes me so sad. I don't know how she can get up to the door handle, push in the lock and slam it shut! Wonder if Wilma is doing it?!? I also feel just yucky, kinda in a funk. I am unbelievably exhausted and have done next to nothing all weekend!

Morn Peeps! I'll just graze all the stations! My, but what a wonderful buffet.
Just touching on the proms, at our school in the 50's we had two, a jr and a sr. The jr was the Jr Prom and the Sr was the Sr Ball. Tradition was to go to a fancy restaurant before the prom, the parents drove us to the prom and if we were lucky, we got to stay up real late, like midnight!! Woo Woo. I seem to remember we had fun. Back in those days we had a queen and a king of each dance. Now remember, it was in '55 and R&R was just beginning. The city kids were dancing the latest craze but we were still fox trotting and waltzing, with some jitterbug. Thanks for the memory.Posted 2 years ago by SammyandOliversmama #

Good morning, all!
Bobby was a bad boy last night, and I barely got any sleep, so I got up at 7:00. Went and played tennis with XBF for an hour and a half so I got my exercise in. I've lost 22 lbs now :)I have nothing else planned for today - I'm just going to take it easy and get in a nap to catch up on my sleep from last night.

bad Bobby!!!

Good morning all. Was awoken to a loud bang outside my bedroom at 5am this morning. I went to see what the commotion was and saw a cat sitting on my downstairs neighbors balcony railing. The doves have a nest in the small tree next to my window and all I could see were the two tiny baby doves sitting in the nest. So my assumption was the bang was from the mother flying down to fight the cat. I looked around but didn't see the mother but I could see the cat eyeing the tree. The cat was a fluffy calico with a large fluffy tail. I went down with handful of dry cat food to see if that would help the cat if it was hungry (with my cats in the window watching me do this).
I don't know if this is the same cat that I heard earlier (around 10pm) first howling like in heat and then in a cat fight of some kind. Anyways I went back up to my apt and watched the cat eat the dry food and walk off.
This morning I woke up around 8:30 and went to check on the nest and both babies are gone and so is the mother. So either the cat came back and got the babies, the babies died from exposure and the mother pushed them out of the nest or the mother somehow carried them off (which I think is highly unlikely as I don't know if a bird would do that). So feeling a little sad about the baby doves. I hear the adult dove cooing (possibly crying) in one of the bigger trees nearby. Such a sad sound.
Sitting here drinking some reduced fat chocolate milk. It has been raining off and on since Friday but it is quite warm out with temperatures around 63 degrees. With the humidty it feels a little like Florida was in April last year.
Wow GD, 22lbs! I hope those are healthy pounds. I could sure use losing 22lbs..would be a start to those 75 lbs I need to lose. Bad Bobby..running around being crazy..did you think you were still on the cruise where you can stay up late?
MC, sorry you feel badly. Sending you some consoling hugs and Sylvester and Mia sends some purrs. Sylvester was sleeping on the second pillow next to me last night. Very comforting when he does that.

Hi, SSM! Sad about the baby doves. They are definitely vulnerable to all sorts of predators. You did what you could by giving the cat some dry cat food.
Do you still have any contact with Instinct and Intuition? I've been wondering how they are doing. Their schooling must be getting close to finished.

KW, I gave up over a year ago with any contact with Instinct and Intuition as I was the one was making the effort to keep in touch but to no avail. If I emailed him, he seemed too busy to answer me. I didn't feel as though they had time for me what with school and his working at Borders. They made no effort to contact me so I assumed they were either too busy or no longer interested in keeping in touch.
The male dove just came is now sitting in the empty nest. I feel so bad for him. Mia is watching him with interest but thankfully she doesn't try to jump into the tree.

I'm sorry that you've lost touch with I & I. I still miss his sense of humor. I hope all is well with them.
Do you have any plans for today? I have a lump-o-cat (Digit) planted firmly on my stomach. She makes me want to take a nap too. lol

I agree KW. I wonder how shcool is going and how they are doing. I do check out Instinct's blog though.
SMM we have a feral in the neighborhood that has been after the birds. Can't seem to convince the birds to nest a bit higher and out of the way. I know it is part of nature, but like you I find it sad too.
Hope everyone is having a restful day--I am exhausted. Breakfast was wonderful with the kids after prom. Daughter's boyfriend went in and sat at a table and refused to move. After an hour of her trying to get him to dance or mingle, others jumped in and tried. He staunchly refused to be a part of the evening. Finally she said I am going to have fun with or without you. She was out dancing and became a popular 2-step partner--I didn't even know she knew how to 2-step! After prom they all came back for breakfast--it was wonderful! Finally as dawn was breaking we all trudged home.

Daughter's boyfriend was probably kicking himself for insisting on wearing his unusual outfit to prom. I'm glad your daughter decided to have fun with or without him. Are there photos of her in her prom dress we can see? :)
Where was the breakfast held?

SM, glad you daughter had fun regardless of bf wanting to be a lump so to speak.
KW, I am just going to relax today. I did too much yesterday and feeling a bit tired. With the rain off an on, it will be a "nap day". Once I go lie down on my bed, with a little while I will be joined by my wonderful cats.

We did the breakfast at the ex-boyfriends house. Seems to be where all the group gathers anyway. There were at least 20-25 kids there and more arrived when we were leaving. Moms made something for the breakfast table. Fruit trays, sausage, bacon, eggs, french toast, and left over cake.
Pictures have to wait until my hubby downloads then. He actually got up after 3 hours sleep and went to the church. I tried but fell asleep sitting on the couch. He left after throwing a blanket on me. Deuter and I took a morning nap.

Sounds like a perfect day, SMM. I'm sitting here listening to Digit purr as she snuggles on me. :) There is nothing more relaxing!
SM, that was quite a crowd to feed breakfast to! You deserve a quiet day!

Good boy Deuter, keep your momma company. I love when the kitties take naps with me. So comforting. That is cute, KW..Digit purring away. So comforting too.

Sounds like we are all having a lazy day! My girls are all snuggly today esp Betty after locking herself in the bathroom twice and me having to pick the lock to get her out. She doesn't move much from my side. I am so exhausted and can't seem to get anything done. Just listening or shall I say reading all you did SM wears me out! I am about down to one week and I have surgery! Not soon enough!
