  1. Thank you so much, everyone, the TDK white light has worked its magic again! While my parents and I don't want to count our chickens too soon, the news on Sam is much better than expected.

He does have a fracture, poor lamb. My parents got him as a rescue cat from the SPCA when he was already two or three years old, so we don't know his history. But the x-rays showed an old -- and bad -- fracture to his leg, which he must have got as a young cat and which had never properly healed. Somehow he's broken it again and -- because it didn't heal properly the first time -- has also snapped his cruciate ligament. So he does need an operation, poor lad, but it's not as major as we feared, and it seems that he won't lose the leg, which we also feared. So we are counting our blessings tonight and feeling much more optimistic.

Again, thank you all so much for your kind words and thoughts. Sam is a cheerful cat and a fighter so I am sure he can come through this, especially if you keep a kind thought in the back of your mind for him. Bless you all for your kindness!

  10. Thanks, guys, so much : ) . Ouch, KK, that sounds terrible, that poor cat, breaking a hip would be enormously painful.

We don't know. My parents just said he went outside for a few hours, as usual, but came in with a terrible limp. Their place is surrounded by bush, so there are loads of trees and tree stumps, and it slopes down to a stream in a little gully at the bottom, so there are lots of places he could jump off and land awkwardly, including steps around the house. Like all cats, he loves to cannon round at great speed occasionally...

  11. YAY! Doing happy dance for SAM! YIPPEE! So glad he will recover and be on the mend soon! Hoping that the surgery won't be too painful and he will not need to be on "kitty crutches"! LOL (((SAM)))

  13. Years and years ago one of ours got hit by a car and managed to get home. After a discussion with the then pre-school and 1st grade age 2 footed kids we decided to take the vacation money and take the fur baby to Auburn University vet school about 3 hours away. When we got there we were told that if cat bones were "left in the same room together they will mend" so it will be with your Sam.
