  1. Well I can agree with this study, I had mine when I was young and I feel over the hill now. My sister who started her family much later in life is healthier than when she was in her 20s.

  3. My mom had me when she was 42 and my sister at 44...and this was in the early-mid 60's when that was practically unheard of. (My dad was 50 when I was born and 52 when my sister was born.) Mom will be 88 next month and still going strong...she reminds me of Sophia Petrillo on Golden Girls!

Reread the article - there's correlation between having kids later, no causation implied. "The same genes that promote female fertility may also prolong life".

    Basically:
In the population, there's a group X that try to have kids when they're young.
There's also a group Y that try to have kids when they're older.
Of Y, there's a subgroup Z that are actually capable of having kids.
Those same people in group Z are more likely to live longer.

Unless you are unsuccessfully trying to have kids later on, the study probably says nothing relevant about your life expectancy.

  9. Interesting, Mum had her last child at 45, is now well into her 80's and fit as a fiddle mostly. She is one of 6 children herself, all who are still alive and kicking, the youngest being in their 70's. Maybe they have the good genes.
