YAY! I just read a post by AZDEB and saw it was Be Kind to Animals Week! How sweet is that?!?! Here we are such wonderful animal people and animal lovers (and some of us not JUST CATS). I was wondering in honor of this special week, what you could do to celebrate this week? Is there anything you can do to mark this week? I think when I get paid on the 7th I am going to pick up some supplies for our local Humane Society and drop them off. How will you celebrate? (hint: it doesn't have to be anything more then giving extra love to your cat(s) )

My youngest sons school is having a pet food drive next week, and all the food goes to the local food bank for the families that have pets and can't afford to feed them. Thought that was a great idea. Needless to say, we have already got a bunch of extra cans to donate and treats also.

Shelters appreciate a lot of things, your time, donations both monetary and/or food/items. I pick-up baby blankets, carriers, anything that can be used @ yard sales and take them to the no-kill shelter here in Tucson. Also pick up food when it is on sale, for example our commissary just had a case lot sale so I picked up a bit of cat food.

My youngest wants to volunteer at the shelters here. He just wants to go in and pet and play with the animals so they aren't lonely. Sweet little 9 year old that he is. Of course the shelters won't allow it. So most weekends we go to the PetsMart and love on the animals there. He even sneaks our cats treats in his pockets to give to them. Of course I act like I don't see him doing it. Sweet silly boy.
