  1. Happy Cinco de' Mayo all! Today we have a Mexican Themed Breakfast Buffet. Mexican omelets made to order, mexican egg scrambles (with sausage, salsa, hash browns, cheese), tortillas with shredded chicken or beef, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. We have Mexican coffees/cappucinos, Mexican Cinnamon Hot Cocoa (delish) and juices. The tablecloths are colorful as are the flowers! The windows are thrown wide open to let in the fresh spring air! The kits are wearing their best Mexican festival costumes and are looking forward to your visit! Come on in, the Cafe is now OPEN!

  3. Good morning! I told my cats to have a happy Cinco de Mayo, but they both looked at me like I was talking a foreign language. LOL
MC, how are you doing today? I keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
JCAT, I wouldn't mind a sip of your Mexican cinnamon hot cocoa, but I'm not much on cinnamon flavors.

  4. Hola!!!
How is everyone this fine morning?
Maddie woke up an hour ago, I opened her bedroom door and she said, "Let's go outside and play hopscotch" Now mind you she's still half asleep and wants to go outside and she woke up like an hour earlier than normal...I told her it's chilly outside and we have to wait till later...she didn't like that. Now she's eating some oatmeal and toast and watching the Wiggles..

  6. *Passes mug to Ladykat so she can sample the hot cocoa...*

Is this a silly question? What actually is Cinco de Mayo -- I mean, what festival?

CM, aren't kids wonderful and totally crazy? Let's go outside and play hopscotch -- at this hour? In this cold? In PJs and slippers? How adorable! That's what you call spontaneous, lol.

  9. G'morning everyone from the stuffy head here in Tucson :(

Per Wikipedia this is the reason for Cinco de Mayo ~ The holiday commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of Mexican General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.[3][4]

While outnumbered, the Mexicans defeated a much better-equipped French army that had known no defeat for almost 50 years.[5] However, Cinco de Mayo is not "an obligatory federal holiday" in Mexico, but rather a holiday that can be observed voluntarily.[6][7]

While Cinco de Mayo has limited significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.[8] However, a common misconception in the United States is that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day,[9] which actually is September 16 (dieciséis de septiembre in Spanish),[10] the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico

  13. Thanks, guys, I'd never even heard of the Battle of Puebla. (I guess, not surprising, since I'm in the South Pacific, lol.) National days are fun though, any excuse for a party and great food and dancing!

  19. I have offered to replace my head at times with anything avail....maybe when they put a steel rod in my neck it won't hurt quite as bad....or at least I will set off allllllll the sensors @ airports when I go thru them, lol.

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  20. I think Americans celebrate Cinco de Mayo more than Mexicans do. Of course, we're known to celebrate any cause as long as food and drink are involved.

Posted 2 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

  21. If it helps with the pain, you can set off all the airport alarms you like, Deb, we won't mind :)

We're the same, Ladykat, you'd be amazed how many honorary Irish there are here on St Patrick's Day, lol. And why not, the more the merrier!
