  1. SM, contact the awarding organization and see if they will send a press release to your local paper and newstations. Never be afraid to toot your own horn!

  15. Just latched onto this thread. Belated congratulations, SoxsMom. There's nothing like a good teacher to get you started. My favorite was Mary Frances Murphy (4th grade). Tough, no nonsense, but boy did you learn in her class!

  16. Congratulations, honey! Just focus on the fact that you won a prestigious award, your kids love you, you are a beloved and extremely gifted teacher, and you did something splendid.

The news will appear in the newspaper and whoever wants to ignore the fact is welcome to do so: they have just identified themselves as small, mean, and petty. They are worthy of being forgotten.

    Now, forget about them.

And know -- KNOW!!! -- that you are wonderful, special, and talented beyond belief! My Lord, girl, we are all so proud of you!

  17. Again thank you all. It was a rough day. I saw the principal patting people on the back for a few things--like picking up the pizza for the school picnic on the football field and not as much as an email. I asked my mentor if I should be taking this personally and she said no. He is the one that put me in for the thing in the first place. He must have thought I stood a chance or why would he bother...

  18. He knows you are the best and that you rock! Otherwise he would not ever considered throwing your hat in the ring! You are the TEACHER OF THE YEAR for a reason!
