  1. Hi, I rescued 3 abandoned kittys yesterday, and have been reading up about bottle raising kittens but still having problem with none of them wanting to go to #2. I even have a doxie who is acting like a mom to the kittens, licking and stimulating. No poop in over 24 hrs. They are extreamly small, eyes somewhat open. Maybe a week or so old. All together they weigh less than 1 pound. They are eatting well out of the bottle, and peeing a lot, again...no poop.

We have named them Chev, Nox, and Rav. We have tried to catch the mom cat with a cat-trap, we knew there was a cat in our yard because of the 'presents' she was leaving...

Anyways, I have looked at youtube videos, read on sites on how to stimulate them to potty, again cant get them to #2.

  2. kitty trio - little babies may not poop every day. The best advice I have seen here is to use a warm, wet washcloth to gently rub/lick their bottoms just after they finish eating... Of course trapping Mom and keeping her and the babies in a big crate would be ideal! Thanks for saving them! More people will be on tomorrow I am sure. Good luck! And welcome to TDK!

  3. Thank you Nawlins. I am staying up again all night to feed them throughout the night, so will check in regularly. They seem to be doing okay, their bellys are fat and they dont make much noise, and if they start mewing my dogs alert me. They are all protective of the kitties.

Will keep posting on progress. :)

  4. Kittens that young usually don't poop everyday. I've noticed ((used to have outside cats and male+female=kittens)) that they usually don't go but like every other day. So don't be too worried about it. Keep feeding them and stimulating them. Keep them warm too. Unless your dog is keeping them warm. But if you notice they aren't then make sure you have the kittens on a eating pad but make sure you have a towel over it. Don't need to be overheated. You're doing a great job!

  7. Thank you so much, I got a heating pad now under half the enclosure so they can adjust/move if too hot/cold. The runt Chev is eatting a lot better this morning.

Still no #2 though as of 11:40 this morning...their tummies are so full I cant belive they dont need to go!

Here is a picture of them!

  9. i now have a full blown case of i-want-A BABY-KITTEN fever !!! btw, my girls are 12 and 17 years old, they are very old kittens...

  10. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! So very cute!
I think they are between 7 - 10 days old, their eyes are open.

  11. They are so cute. I agree that they are a little over a week old but not two weeks yet. Kittens don't poop every day, so they may just not have gone yet. If your doxie is helping you out, and licking the kittens, you may not see much evidence that they are pooping.

  12. Hehhe oh no! So sorry for giving you the case of new kitty syndrome! My parents (especially my mom) said there would NEVER be another cat in the house after my Sam passed on...and now we have 3!

I am soooo curious to see what they are going to look like. Long hair or short? Squishy face or pointy? I dont know that much about kitty cats...but these guys have stolen my heart!

I am researching what kind of cat food to feed them already! I cant wait till they are 3 weeks old and can go to the bathroom on their own.

I have had like 0 hrs sleep the past 2 nights! If I do fall asleep, the dogs wake me when the little ones cry!

I already ordered them engraved name tags! I cant wait for them to grow a lil so I can put a collar with a bell on them! Ahhhh! I cannot help it I love animals...I always thought myself as a dog person...but really kitties are awsome!!! :D =happy fur-mommy=

  13. I cant get them to poo!!! Their tummies are like waterballoons, everyone says its fine but when I got them was Friday noon, its now Sunday night...I am so scared!!!

    Posted 10 months ago by ~*~Rav's Mom~*~ #

  14. Don't panic just yet---it is possible they hadn't nursed for some time before you took them in--it might take awhile to poop. They are adorable--based on their size and that their eyes are opened but their ears are still somewhat folded they look to be about 10-14 days old. Keep checking in with updates--we care! Since it's Mothers' Day many of our experts may not be online today--others, please keep this thread bumped up until they are back.

  15. They are purring, walking around a-lot when awake/feeding time, especially Chev, she is a really adventerous girl.

Cant belive that they can go so long with so much in their bellies without eleminating #2...

    Posted 10 months ago by ~*~Rav's Mom~*~ #

  16. Welcome to TDK, Kitty Trio--don't be too concerned yet--most of what they are taking in consists of fluid that they may be urinating it out--it takes a little while before it becomes solid. If you see no "poo' in another 24-48 hours, then you should probably consult a vet.

Posted 10 months ago by Shelley #

  17. Bump on the vet. Don't get too stressed! You're doing fine! :D but they are SOOOO cute! I remeber when I tried to raise monster..oh he was adorable. But if they are pooping and doggy is the one stimulating..well chances are the only way you're gonna see that poo is when it comes from the dog. Mommy dogs ((and cats)) clean up after their babies...in every way possible. But if they don't go in 24-48 hours then def take them to a vet

  18. We had #2 woohoo...man did it STINK!!!! So happy! I think I am going to only keep 1 of the kittens, sadly after I thought about it, I dont have much $$$ since I have 4 dogs, 2 birds, turtles, skinks...and 3 cats...I think would be too much. I got laid off in Febuary and there is not much work here in my small Texas town...I would keep all 3 but, I fear it will be too much. I love them so much...All I can pray for is 2 great fur-ever homes to put them in...=sigh=

    Posted 10 months ago by ~*~Rav's Mom~*~ #

  19. Can you find them forever homes now? If you can get a couple people interested in coming over and bonding with 'their' kitten while it is still living with you, you might feel better about giving it up later. Let the soon-to-be new parents name their own kitten which will make it easier to give up later. Be sure to tell them that you get the first chance to take the kitten back if the new family can't keep it.

If the new families are close by, you can all volunteer to share cat sitting duties as needed. Play dates are good, even for cats.

  20. I wont have a shortage of people wanting one. My mom works as a teacher at an elementary school. I have had the kittens only over the weekend and the whole school knows about them. Trouble is finding the RIGHT home, with sensible kids.

I have looked up videos of 1 week old kittens on youtube, mine look so much smaller than the ones I saw! They are quite furry/fluffy too, I wonder if they are going to be long haired?

    Posted 10 months ago by ~*~Rav's Mom~*~ #

  21. Aww!! Yes finding the right home is crucial! I used to live in Texas..where do you live? ((if I may ask)) well all kittens tend to be fluffy bc they're so small and need the warmth. But either way they'll be beautiful.

  22. I live in a small town around the Amarillo area. I am kinda thinking of moving to Amarillo for work...or Dallas...but Dallas is so big, scarry!!!

    Posted 10 months ago by ~*~Rav's Mom~*~ #

  23. I cant wait for these guys to grow up! The one cat I had through my childhood was a Seal Point Siamese, named Sam. He lived to be 15+ years old. I found him when I was like 3 years old (even though he was a pure-breed, he was a stray!), freaked my parents out when I came up to them holding a kitty. I asked them how old Sam was when we got him, my mom said he was about 6 months old. He was the best cat ever...I still miss him, I remember crying all night for several nights till I fell asleep when he passed away.
Now I am so excited, I never thought I would be strong enough to have another cat, because Sam was so special, I didnt think I could ever replace him, or want to...I am glad none of these cats are Siamese, it would be too hard...

I am so gratefull to this site, everyone has been so supportive. I know I was so paniced over the #2 bussiness...now they are thriving!

Thank you everyone for your time and kitty-wisdom! <3 <3 <3

  25. You're a great meowma KT,I love those kittens!

  26. Dallas is kind of big! I used to live in a suburb of Austin. Sucks you can't keep all of them :(. But you're doing a marvelous job!!

  27. Hi I am back! I have a question, I think 1 of the kittens is blind? He rather sit and chill out while the rest are more outgoing. I have put my hand infront of him and he does not react, he will most likely move away from my hand. The other 2 will 'greet' my hand and rub or something...while the blind will just kinda sit and stare, and like I said most likely shy away. I put him on my bed, and he walked off it (I caught him of course before he actually fell) but he seemed to not know he was high off the ground or that there was a ledge. I put the other kittens on my bed and they stopped and 'crouched' before going to the edge... What other tests are there and does that mean he is for sure blind or still developing, they will be 3 weeks old this Friday. There is no 'film' over his eyes, they are clear. I have tried shining light in his face and no reaction...

    Posted 10 months ago by ~*~Rav's Mom~*~ #

  28. I just thought that Rav (the possibly blind) was just a lot calmer kitten...and now its starting to make sense why he is the way he is...I am still trying diffrent test to make sure...I am so sad right now,

Another problem is they are suckling on eachothers...girl/boy parts...is that normal...its disgusting!
