  1. My Grandpa and his wife were on their way home Sat night and they were about 5 miles away and he says his truck stalled. Then he says BUT you'll never guess what happened! He said that darn thing kept moving! We coasted the rest of the 5 miles home. Now this wouldn't be such a big deal if the last 5 miles to his house was a big hill, but it isn't. He said that when they got close to the house he pulled off onto the shoulder and even with two tires in the gravel and grass that thing still kept moving, he said it was the darnest thing he'd ever seen. They were able to pull into the driveway(with no power steering) and right up to the garage. He said if that garage door were open I could've pulled right in. My uncle Mike(my Grandpa's son) passed away unexpectedly in Feb of a heart attack at age 41. My Grandpa said once they stopped in the driveway he and his wife just sat there for a minute dumbfounded and then he said, I wouldn't doubt Mike was back there pushing us the whole time.
I found the story very touching as of course my Grandpa has been very devistated by my uncle passing and so young and something like this happening to put a smile on his face.

  3. What a beautiful story...and one of those things that can't be explained! I don't doubt it WAS Mike who was pushing that vehicle :)

  4. Way to go, Uncle Mike - I'm SURE it was him helping out! Thanks for sharing the story and sorry for the unexpected loss of Uncle Mike, aka, Hero Of The Day.

  5. Oh, I love that story! And I don't have one doubt that, had they looked in the rear view mirror, they would have seen Mike smiling and waving.

  6. Thank you. I just can't even tell you how happy I am for my Grandpa that he could experience something like that. He my uncle were very close. At the funeral my Grandpa's cries could have easily been mistaken for a whimpering puppy. They were both truck drivers and would constantly be on the phone with each other during those long drives. In fact, Mike had the heart attack literally minutes after hanging up from one of their long conversations(not driving at the time thankfully).

Has anyone else had things like that happen to them or someone they know? I'd love to hear others' stories too.

  7. Ama, this is a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing! My sister had a "sign" from Mom. Mom would make the best pot roast and her gravy was always perfect, never a lump and just the right thickeness. She showed my sister and I how to make her gravy, I have about a 80% success rate, my sister however had a 0% success rate for lumps. A few years after Mom passed my father met a wonderful woman and my sister invited dad and her over for dinner so they could get to know each other better. While making the pot roast and the gravy, my sister asked Mom to give her a sign if this is the right woman for daddy...This was the very first time (possibly only time) my sisters gravy was absolutly perfect and so was the roast and every other dish. She said it looked and tasted just as if mom made it herself. Mom was right, she has turned out to be a wonderful wife to my father for 10 years now.

  9. How sweet, 2bp! They always say that if you have loved someone so deeply, that when they are gone you will find love again. Of course, if Mr. WWM tries I plan to be just a bit of an obnoxious ghost :-) Not really. I would not want for him to be alone. But I would like to be able to offer an opinion!

  11. Thank you for sharing this very inspirational story. The saying is true that God does work in misterious ways. I am sure Mike was there watching over them and was trying to send a message of how much he loves his parents. Bless them.

  13. OKay, here's my story - My maternal grandmother raised me and my brothers in our early years, until I was nine years old, while my mom worked. For various reasons we parted ways the summer I was 9. She was so special to me and I to her. Many, many years later I was driving my car with my mom in the front passenger seat and my sister-in-law in the back. A car pulled right out in front of us. I put the brakes on hard and honked the horn so the other cars around us could see what was happening. From the corner of my eye I saw my mom turn her head toward me and say, "You had better brake harder or you will hit that car." I did and narrowly avoided a wreck. When we all caught our breath and calmed down a little I told my mom I was glad she said to brake harder. She said that she did not utter a word, that it must have been my grandmother who is my guardian angel. I have never forgotten that!

  15. Oh wow, Ouise that gave me the goose bumps. So glad no one got hurt.

We're so lucky to have our passed loved ones(including kitties of course!) looking out for us. Someone has had my back throughout my recent first house buying experience. We got our first offer accepted and were so excited. The day of the inspection was the first big rain of the spring season(late March). Turned out house was one big leaky mess! Improper gutters, standing water in the yard, garage, basement... Even the sump pump came apart while we were there and started spraying all over the basement. We ended up walking away from that house and we have since purchased another we are even more excited about! We move this weekend. We really feel like we dodged a bullet with that house because had it not been raining as much as it was we would have had NO clue what we were getting into.
Also,(sorry long winded) my grandma is in a nursing home now with Parkinson's disease and my dad has had the sad job of putting her house up for sale. He has accepted an offer and close June 1st. The house we ended up buying reminds me SO much of my grandma's house, instant cozy feeling. Very similar layout AND the person selling the house was also a son selling the house for his mother who had to go to an Alzhiemer's clinic. When I told the seller that at the closing we all almost got the boo hoo's hehe.

Things like that help me to continue to believe that everthing happens for a reason.

  16. How exciting for you about your house, Ama! And how fortunate that you were able to witness all of the problems with the other house. Like you, I do believe that things happen for a reason. Sometimes it can be awfully hard to try and understand what the reason could be. But if we open our hearts and minds, there are valuable lessons to be learned even in the saddest moments.

I can't wait to see pictures of your new home!

  17. Angels are with you always, you just have to realize that they are there. Wonderful stories.

  18. Wow...what a cool story! Thanks for sharing it AMA!!!
Yours too Ouise!! Loved ones never really leave us do they? =)
WWM...It's so true..we can't always see clearly the things that seem to lambaste (?) us but sometimes it's the hand of God looking out for us.
