  1. Hi Everyone! Well, the other night my fiancee and I were outside and a smal white kitten came up to us

he was meowing and all alone, and I could not leave him outside....Well, we brought him in and he is sooo cute, he pees in the litter box, eats fancy feast kitten food, and i have been taking very good care of him (Ive had plenty of cats before) but since I have brought him in, which has been three nights now, I have not seen him poop!!! Ive seen him pee several times...I looked at his bum and there was a little bit of poo on his anus, but i dint see any in the box...what should i do? ive looked for poo stashes but have had no success!!!!

  2. Hi, TAL. Welcome to the Daily Kitten. You will find lots of friendly people here who will offer advice and support. Things can get pretty slow at night although our New Zealand members may be checking in soon.

Lots of people have been asking the same questions about their new kittens lately. I posted a "tag" at the top of this thread called "constipation." If you click on it you will find several other threads where this issue has been discussed in detail.

Very young kittens are stimulated by their mothers to eliminate waste. The mother licks/bathes their anal area after the kitten has nursed. If there is no mother cat around, this stimulation can be done by gently wiping the kitten's anal region with a warm wet soft cloth. Tiny kittens don't always eliminate every day.

Check back often for more suggestions. Let us know how you and your new young one are doing. :)

Have you decided on a name? He is very cute!!

  3. Aww hes ADOABLE!!! Yes you def need to get a warm wet cloth to wipe him with. If you seen little bits, chances are hes tried but with no success. I'd look under beds and couches...any place he could sneak under and do the dirty deed. But unless you catch him in the act, I wouldn't scold him for it. He'd have no idea what he did wrong. Any names for him?

  10. Hi, and lucky you!! I'm still hoping for an answer about my 3 or 4 week kittens non-poo problems!I read mineral oil, but can I add it to the baby kitten milk I'm bottle feeding her??

Posted 2 years ago by nana #

  11. I have heard about mineral oil also, I suppose you could try a tiny bit in the kitten milk. I checked several websites and vets recommend it but don't give specific amounts, so I would try just a few drops to begin with.

  12. the only thing i know about mineral oil is when we use it on calves when they are bloating. we always give it to them seperatly but have to tube it because it must taste horrible to them.

i think canned pumpkin also helps with constipation.

cats don't need to go everyday though. cats getting all raw only get ever 3-4 days. wet food since much less goes to waste but more than raw i think ever 1-3 days would be good.

  13. a warning about mineral oil, it makes things all really well, oily and slippery. so if kitten will drink it use a bottle that you can just throw away as it is hard to get clean. makes their poo also oily.

  14. thanks!! baby jericho only eats bottle-fed kitten formula, but I'll buy extra bottle for mineral oil remedy. that eases my worried mind!!

  15. Let us know how Jericho is doing. Is that him in your avatar?? Very cute!!
