  2. 7 month old? Wow that's young to be having a litter. How many she will have can't be predicted, but being that young I hope she has a small litter. Please as soon as the kittens are weaned have her fixed. As far as stroking her usually she will be okay with it, but if not she will let you know.

  3. you know how you said you hope she has a small liter? Can i ask why? Would something go terribly wrong? I am going to have her done when her kittens are between 8-10 weeks old and ready to go to there new homes! I have found owners for her kittens! Theres just alot i dont know about cats and birth, and would like help with, has i have never had a cat before! I got the cat for my daughter! Could you tell me how she will react towards me if she doesnt want me to stroke her after she has had her kittens, will she bite me? Also i will put some bullet points down on what i feel i need help with and hopefully someone can help me :)

. What room is best for my cat to be in when she is having her kittens?
. What temperature should the room be?
. How old should the kittens be before i start handling them?
. Is it best to feed my cat meat or just biscuits?
. How could you tell if a cat has a miscarrage?

  4. http://www.cat-pregnancy-report.com/feline-pregnancy.html

This website has a lot of good info regarding her pregnancy. You can try to set a good place up for her, but ultimately she will pick her spot. If you can set up a box or kitty bed somewhere she will have privacy is best. Possibly clear a spot in a bedroom closet and leave the closet door open. place a box or roomy kitty bed with a blanket in it. Show it to her and leave her access to it all times. It should be someplace without a lot of noise or traffic.

  5. it is best to feed a cat wet food.

cat-pregnancy-report is a really good website for info about cat pregnancy, but the thing they don't have right is what to feed.

  6. Well i have been to the shop and got 2 empty crisp boxes put them up and cut the top and one side off them! In one i have put newspaper in she cat rip up to get herself comfy and in the other i have put an old custion and blanket in! I have put them and also her cat basket she uses now in an empty cupboard that is warm and left the door of it open! She dunt seem to be going in there even though i have shown her round it! Also can i move her litter tray in there and when the kittens have gone could i put it back in the spot its always been in will she carry on useing it there or will i have to keep it in the cupboard then?

As you was saying put her somewhere quiet, i am in a flat and i have a dog! My dog barks at strange noises and my neighbours when they are being loud! Will this affect my cat and kittens in anyway if she barks as i would be scared of my cat hurting her kittens!

Also i am new 2 this site so i wouldnt know where to start looking for all this information!

  7. If you cat is used to the dog, she should be okay with the noise. The locations you have set up for her sound good, she may choose one of her own, or not use the ones you set up until it is time.
Did you try the link in my last post? Just click on the pink link above.

Ok thanks for your help both! Will look at these links now and try and find all the information i need! Hopefully i find it all! :)

  9. i work at a small cat shelter, and they have a dog that gets free roam of the place. none of the cats have a problem with the dog, in fact they will sleep together all the time! if the dog respects the cat it should be fine.

  10. She does respect my cat but my dog gets jealous of her sometimes! So would this effect anything? Also they get close together but wont sleep together!

  11. Hi Heave, welcome to TDK Chat - whereabouts (ish!) are you in the UK?

You're bound to make more of a fuss of your cat while she's pregnant, even if subconsciously - so try and make a conscious effort to make plenty of fuss of the dog too if she has a tendancy to be jealous.

If you don't know a lot about cats then you've definitely come to the right place! :o)

  12. Hi! Thanks hun! I am in Manchester what about u?

I just want the best for my cat like always! Will fuss my dog more! But the thing is she gets the same amount of attention as my cat does! So i dont know if fussing my dog more will work! Will give it a try tho :) My cat doesnt seem to be putting that much weight on either but apparently i have heard they put loads on in the last couple of weeks! So i will just have to wait and see!

Im rather worried about her as she is only 7 months old and 2-3 weeks pregnant and someone replyed on here sounding as tho its a young age for a cat to get pregnant and she hopes she has a small litter!

  14. hi! it depends....... i had a cat who was around the same age and had kittens. she was relieved when i would stroke her, and would also even let me take the kittens for awhile. it depends on how much the bond of trust is between you and your cat....and how she feels after pregnancy. the bets thing i can say is to give it a try and see how she reacts. if she is avery friendly cat, she'll probably enjoy it. if she is more aloof...it might take time. and big warm welcome!

  15. How can you tell if i have a good bond with my cat?

Posted 2 years ago by Heav #

  16. have you had this cat very long? usually, if your cat enjoys being around you, likes to spend time with you, and doesn't hiss or sratch at you in general....similar to that of a human.

  17. I got my cat when she was 12 weeks old! Then my daughter was pulling her tail but i couldnt stop her i could only tell her DONT DO THAT ITS NAUGHTY has shes only 1 and half! So i got my boyfriends mum to look after my cat until my daughter understands its naughty doing that! Then my mum got a cat when my cat was 3 n half months old and my daughter didnt pull its tail or anything so i got my cat back off his mum and she has been back a month now! My daughter has stopped pulling her tail and seems to love her cat now shes always kissing her, wanting to pick her up to cuddle her! Also when she wakes in the morning she always looks for our cat!

But my cat loves sitting with me! Also shes always purring when she is sat with me, rubs her head against my face and if i dont show any attention she meow's at me! So she must have a bond with me! I dont know! Do you agree? Ive never had a cat so i dont know if a cat as bonded or not and what the signs are if a cat has bonded with you!

  18. it sounds like she does have a good bond with you. she may even be able to remeber that you tried to keep your daughter from hurting her. i've grown up with cats. :) yes, you do seem to have a good bond with her...usually it's clear when a cat is accepting of you or not. and i'd try to gently stroke her, and see if she accepts it. if she swts at you, or gives any other unfriendly signal, then you'll know. i say this because the reactions vary by cat. just remeber to be slow and gentle....and she might even like if you very gently massage her body a bit. also, about your duaghter...might be a good idea to to take your daughter's hand and guide her how to properly treat a cat, because in the furture, the cat may not be as accepting of her, and she needs to learn early on the proper treatemtn of animals......so that she does not do harm to your cat without knowing it. :)

  19. Thanks so much you have been great help! What i would like is if i have any more problems i would like to discuss has you have grown up with cats i would so much appreciate you getting back to me and giving me an helping hand! :)

My daughter is great with the cat now, you couldnt ask her to get any better! Since my cat has been back home my daughter would play with her and my cat will sit there and play back rolling onto her tummy and licking her hands when she goes to stroke her! I noticed that yesterday night my daughter picked my cat up and she doesnt know how to pick her up as shes really too young to know how to, and the cat didnt like the way my daughter picked her up so my cat ran off and my daughter went over to her and stroked her and give her a kiss! If she hurts anyone she will kiss them and say all better now but she will only do that if it was a mistake and she didn't mean it! So in the future i dont think i will have any problems with my cat and daughter! And i know that my cat will accept her in the future and get on with each other great!

  20. no problem! you're welcome! i'd be most happy to. you can reach me at jugnisarpanch (@) yahoo dot com. don't mind the id, iam of of part india indian heritage, and my id is two punjabi (north indian dialect) words. anyway....anything i can do to help, ill surely try! my mother grew up with cats, and i have had cats since i myself was little. i can't have chidlren, so we have cats as our chidlren :) that's sweet about your daughter.....yea, it's just good to sometimes show them when they are unsure, just because even if they don't mean any harm, they will build a beter relationship with the cat, if they know the right things to do, as im sure you know. :) i had friends kids and relatives who would unknowingly anger the cats, and the cats were afraid of them. i helped the child by shwoing them how to pick up the cats, to feed them, etc. and they had fun learning it. ( i also do alot of volunteer work.)

  21. Im honestly no good with sending e-mails so if i need you help i will put it on here and hopefully you will see it and reply! When my daughter is old enough and knows right from wrong i will also teach her how to pick them up, feed them, and explain to her what you do and dont do to the cat ect! But at the moment shes too young for me to do anything and she doesnt understand most things at the monent but she will do has she gets older, its all because she is young that she doesnt understand and know how to treat our cat! When you get a cat it is treated has a baby so i know where your coming from when you said you couldnt have children (Awww bless)and you treat your cats has your children! To me i have 3 children my daughter, cat and dog :)

  22. hahah thats fine! just feel free to ask away...not only will i, but others here will try to help give you some great help! yep...i do indeed treat my cats as my kids ( i have severe osetoeprosis, so having kids would cripple me.....i love kids, but im kind of relieved by it.)...i just dont have to worry about them listening to rap. hahha! that's great! i also grew up around dogs, and my hubby's aunt and uncle have 2 dogs. im just closer to dogs, but i love all kinds of creatures...except spiders. :)
