I'm here - I had to run out for about 1/2 hour.
This is wonderful news that MC is already in recovery. I am praying that the shorter surgery means that they found the problem was not as bad as was originally suspected. But, as Linda says, it has been scary. No surgical procedure is without risks and certainly not brain surgery. Now, they need to give her the "happy drugs" and keep her pain level under control.
Wow..... I didn't even know that I could hold my breath for that many hours!
*click* With gratitude for a successful surgery and prayers for a rapid, and uncomplicated, recovery for MC.

Just woken up, rough night I kept waking up and looking at the clock. Brilliant news thanks CM. Mmmmm champagne for breakfast and a toast to MC. Save a bottle for MC. Healing Energy winging it's way to MC.

My guess is that she will be in recovery for a couple of hours and then be transferred to a specialty unit. Probably ICU.

Well, just remember that MC is currently under the influence of the Happy Drugs and is blissfully snoozing away. The hard part will begin when they wake her up. In recovery they are just making sure that her condition is stable before moving her.

Got text from her friend....She has been moved to room 364 the Neurotrama unit. I called and talked to a nice nurse in the ICU named Angela...she cannot give out any info without a code word, which I understand but I asked if she could let her know we send our love and we are thinking of her. She said she would.

Good job, CM! No, the nurses can't give out any information about patients. But hopefully MC's friend will continue to send you updates. Maybe, with luck, in a few days MC could take a phone call or two. Right now she just needs to rest, rest, rest.

Oh - this is such great news! A shorter than expected surgery, and now out of recovery. As you all say, hopefully the shorter time means that things were not as bad as feared, and will mean a fster recovery! *Clink* Shares in the toast wishing Amy a speedy and full recovery!

We have to be patient I know, but I want the news NOW! I expect DM will have the code and will be able to get the news as soon as there is anything else to report.
I wonder how much hair she has?????????????????

*blushes* It's just the nurse in me, 2p. I used to work in both trauma and on a surgical unit. Sometimes patients get just totally overwhelmed by calls, visitors, etc. that it can sort of impede recovery. MC is going to be experiencing post-op pain and will be on some fairly heavy duty meds, I would suspect. You're right in that the hardest part is yet to come.
But of course we all want to hear from MC. I wonder if it would work to do this. Once she is out of the critical unit and in a "normal" room, maybe we could designate one of us to call her once each day and pass along well wishes and love from all of us. That way, she would be in contact but not to the degree of wearing her out. She's going to be weak and puny for a while.

I knew it was the nurse in you. Don't blush - you can help us keep from overwhelming her.
I think that's an excellent idea WWM. Perhaps DM, if she is up to it, since she is physically closest?? Or CM since she was the first contact with the text message?
Having been through surgery I know too well how overwhelming visitors and phone calls can be. And I went through nothing even remotely close to what CM is having to endure.

WWM you have such good ideas. :-)

The cards are an awesome idea - enough to paper her room. I like that!!!
Maybe the phone caller could rotate each day. That way we all feel involved, and MC never knows who will be calling her.
