  1. OK, will do. Kilroy, that means we can do the touristy NYC stuff Thursday, yes? So which day would Statue of Liberty fit better with?

  4. Anything is fine by me, I just want to meet you all! (and see some touristy stuff!)

  5. Do you actually want to go up the Statue, or just cruise past?

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  6. MCW you should go to the top of the rock at rockafellar center, the view is really pretty especially at sunset time

here is a pic of the view you see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/39/NYC_Top_of_the_Rock_Pano.jpg

  7. Up if possible, but not if it's bonkersley expensive...I'd settle for a cruise by if need be!

    Gini - oh WOW!

  8. It's less expensive to go up, but the tour that cruises past also encompasses a whole bunch of other sights. It's $12 US for just Ellis Island and the Statue vs $27 for the cruise.

  14. *BUMP*

OK, in just TWO WEEKS time I will be in New York!!!

Reading through this thread, it seems a meet on the Thursday (3rd Sept) is the winner. And unless anyone has a better idea, what say we meet in the pub Kilroy & Mr Kilroy frequent? If we make it early evening, Kilroy can drag me round the sites during the day, then Dorie can babysit me on Friday.

Does that sound like a plan? Kilroy is that OK by you? You'll need numbers, so come on New York TDKers, stand up and be counted! ;o)

  15. Nicely summarized, MCW :) I'll stop by the pub in the next couple of days and see about reservations. They'll probably be understanding if I can't give them exact numbers just yet. (yoo hoo, folks!) I don't know how jet-lagged you'll be on Thursday, but we'll do as much or as little as you feel like. Of course, I keep thinking of more things you just *have* to do, like walking over the Brooklyn Bridge...

    Can't wait, can't wait!!

  16. Jet lag? Meh, I'll overdose on caffeine & pro-plus!!!

  20. wish we still lived in NY so i could go to the meet up... take pictures and tell us all about it !!

  21. OK, so it's looking like Thursday the 3rd after a long day of touring around. I'll check about reservations this weekend, which may determine exactly what time we can do this. I'm not worrying too much; the city's pretty dead over Labor Day weekend.

  23. MCW, will you be meeting George??? I'm jealous!!!

  24. She'll probably have George bugging her in the middle of the night; he loves company :)

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  25. Lucky MCW!!!! Take lots of pictures!!!

    Posted 2 years ago by 2bpurring #

  26. If you're ever in NYC, 2b, you have an open invitation to come stay (or at least to come meet George).

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  27. Thank you!!! I would love to come someday and do the touristy thing. I have been there before but it was on business and I had no time to see anything. First on the list would be to meet George! (and you and Mr.Kilroy of course)!

    Posted 2 years ago by 2bpurring #

  28. Just updating with the latest; we have a definite reservation on 9/3, 7pm at Tir na Nog, which is at 5 Penn Plaza, at 8th Avenue and 33rd St. Reservation is in the name of Collins.

One small hiccup, the Statue of Liberty is SOLD OUT for the entire month of Sept., so we're going to have to improvise. I'm checking into other options.

  29. bump

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  30. Kilroy, as long as I get to see the Statue of Liberty in person from some vantage point or other, that will do fine! I know I'm not going to cram everything into the few days we have, and won't throw a tantrum if I don't get the moon on a stick too :o)
