  10. At Cracker Barrell you can choose your veggies from their yummy list, you get 4 I think, and it comes with biscuts or cornbread! I like their breakfasts too, but I try and stay away from eggs.... my cholestoral is high!

Here's the Chicken Torte Receipe I made last night, it really turned out good!

    Chicken Torte
    Crust:
1 ½ cups all purpose flour
    6 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
    4 oz. chopped pecans
    1 tsp salt
    ½ tsp pepper
    1 tsp paprika
    ½ canola oil

    Filling:
    3 eggs
    1 ½ cups sour cream
    ¾ cup chicken broth
    ¾ cup mayo
    3 dashes tobacco (to taste)
    ¾ tsp dried dill
    3 oz. cheddar cheese
½ cup chopped sweet (Vidalia if you can find them) onion
12 oz. chopped cooked chicken (dark & white meat) – this is about one whole chicken cooked and deboned.

Mix all ingredients for crust together, to a crumble. Reserve 1 cup of the crumble for topping. Prepare a 10” baking pan with cooking spray and press into the bottom and up the sides. I used a metal pie dish. Bake crust at 350 for about 15 min.Mix together the ingredients for the filling and pour over crust, top with the remaining crumble. Bake at 350 for another 45 minutes, until the middle is set. Remove from the oven and let cool completely. Refridgerate. It is easiest to unmold if chilled. Cut into 8 wedges, and serve warm, reheated in the oven.

MY NOTES: The above is how the original recipe read in the newspaper. I do not personally like pecans, so I used Macadamia nuts instead, and it was delicious! I also mixed cheddar with fontina cheese (because that’s what I had on hand, and again – YUMMY!..... My torte needed an extra 10 or so minutes to cook (but that may just be my oven). When my torte was done, I let it stand for 15 min. then served it, and I though it sliced just fine ( in other words, no goopy mess). It does slice better if you make it the day before and then slice and reheat – buy hey, my family was starving!......

  11. Good Morning, GD, AV and CM!
AV, do you need to switch with me for calling MC? I think CM mentioned something about that.....let me know, no big deal for me.
That Bobby! What are we going to do with him??!! I'll take him and snuggle him and have a grandmotherly talk with him :)
Are your girls being good for you, CM?? Is Maddie's sleeping better now?

  14. KH, I would really appreciate it if I could call Tuesday, we're traveling Wed. up to NC again, and will be there thru Sun. Cell phone service is "iffy" up there, so I'm afraid I wouldn't get her on Friday. That would really be great if I could take Tues. and you would do Friday. Thanks so much!

Posted 10 months ago by AV #

  15. The girls are great Katt....Maddie is sleeping a lot better now. Whew..thank goodness. Abbie is mostly sleeping through the night and that's a big plus..mommy is getting a little sleep now...whoopie!!!

  16. Oooh, please take Bobby, Katthays!
AV, I love the cornbread at Cracker Barrel. And the meatloaf! Oh man - now I really want to go!!!

  17. CM, if you miss getting up during the night, I have a solution...... ;-)

Posted 10 months ago by GreatDane #

  18. Ok, I will do Friday then AV!!!
CM, I am so happy the 'monsters' are gone for now and that Abbie is sleeping so well, too....sleep really does make a difference, as GD knows :))) Send that little rascal Bob through the worm hole to WI and he will have his fill of nature...he will be so tired he will sleep like a baby :)))

Posted 10 months ago by katthays #

  19. Thanks KH!

Posted 10 months ago by AV #

  20. *Shoves Bobby through the worm hole to WI*

  21. I'm so tired!!! 3 hours to go!
One of the trainers just came in and asked if something was wrong with the TVs. Hmmmm- I've been here for two hours and never remembered to turn them on!

Posted 10 months ago by GreatDane #

  22. lol GD!!!
    Oops :D
Better than watching the Wiggles for 3 hours straight now...

Posted 10 months ago by cricketsmama #

  23. Ohhhh, The Wiggles! I'm fairly sure it's better than ESPN, CM!! Arrrgh! Halfway done now - 2.5 hours to go!

Just got a call from Crazy Cat Lady. Her aunt is sick and she may have to fly to NJ at a moment's notice so she wanted me to be on call. No problem - I could use the money!

Posted 10 months ago by GreatDane #

  24. That's funny about you forgetting to turn the tvs on :)))
And maybe the Wiggles would be better than ESPN :)
I know I am sick of cartoons and 'kid's programs" My granddaughter is tending to lean more towards I Carly, sometimes Hannah Montana, and shows like that...more preteen stuff :0

Posted 10 months ago by katthays #

  25. Going to take the girls outside before the rain comes, be back later...maybe..have to run to 3 different stores today to stock up the house...

Posted 10 months ago by cricketsmama #

  26. ..heading out shopping with Daughter... got to get her "linens & stuff" for college... check in later!

Posted 10 months ago by AV #

  27. Katthays, a couple of Saturdays in a row I forgot to turn the a/c on. I was very quickly reminded of that, though, by poor people working out and sweating more than usual. This is all after quitting coffee! No fun getting up at 6:30 and opening the gym by 7:45 without caffeine in your system!

    Bye AV, bye CM!

The thing about ESPN is that they keep showing the same thing over and over. Arrrrgh! I'd take The Wiggles or Hannah Montana any day!

Posted 10 months ago by GreatDane #

  28. Teeheehee on the sweaty people :))) Do you think you'll ever go back to having caffeine, GD? Some days I think I should totally give it up, too.
Kids nowdays are growing up waaaaay too soon! When I got my granddaughter from school on Friday, I asked her if she had a good day....she said, well....the first part of the day was fine, then said she had a secret to tell me when we got in the car....said that she likes a boy named Zack, but he likes Alyssa, but Alyssa is probably going to want to 'go with' another boy, so then Zack will come crying to me, she said! I almost died! Good grief....I told my GD that 3rd graders are waaay too young to be thinking about boys, that when I was that age, we thought about what games we were going to play :) She said, 'well obviously Grandma, you don't know about 3rd graders now' !!!!!!! Cheez! LOL.

  29. stumbles in....blinks.....reaches for the coffee pot.......Morning All! Seems I have become a partial nocturnal creature. Maybe I can help out. On the Chicken Torte...........you had me sold with the cheese!
