  1. MC, I would like to begin this thread so that there is a central place where you can post to let us know how you are doing. It will be easier to find if it's in one spot, I think. And of course, we are hoping that we'll find little posts a couple of times each day.

    Mucho hugs to you!

  2. Is there any news today, WWM??

    Posted 3 years ago by MaxandCali'sMom #

  3. I just made a call to MC, but it went to voice mail. I hope that means she's resting and taking care of herself. I told her that we love her and want her to rest to get better. Right now, I think we have to rely on her seeing this thread and posting when she is up and feeling okay to type a line or two just to check in with us each day. {{MC}}

  5. WWM, good idea for this thread--I've been trying to hop from one to another to see how MC is doing--since she started the cafe this morning, we know she was up, but of course in some pain. Thanks.

  6. WWM, as usual you have a good idea. Thank you for starting this thread so it makes it easier for everyone to keep updated on her. I know that no news makes me worry. I read her postings in the cafe and hopefully later or tomorrow she will post here with her update. Sending MC some healing prayers and thoughts and hope she will recover so that the pain gets less and less. Hugs to her as well.

  7. She posted on another thread this morning but now I can't remember which one! That's why I thought that a more "central" thread would work better. And I desperately want to be reassured that she has a functioning telephone.

And MC, I replied to your posting on that other thread, but since this is more of a "health" thread I'll repeat it here. The bowel problem that you mentioned isn't being caused by your protein intake, but rather is most likely being caused by your pain med's. All of the narcotics, and morphine in particular, have the side effect of causing constipation. Because they are smooth muscle relaxers, and the colon is a big, smooth muscle it really slows down the movement in the colon. But, you have to weigh what is really the more important right now, and that is that you achieve pain control. So try to deal with the constipation by other means. Increase your fluids. Take a stool softener, like Colace, which is OTC. If need be, take a Dulcolax tablet at bedtime. That one is a laxative, so it does have the potential to cause cramping. You might include some prune juice in your diet. Once you are a bit better, and can walk around the house a little, it should help.

    Mucho hugs!

And Beth suggested, on the other thread, that you warm the prune juice for maximum effect! It tastes good that way, too!

  8. yikes! She's home already?! I haven't had time to check TDK until this morning! Can I get a synopsis? Hope you're doing ok MC!

  9. 'All of the narcotics, and morphine in particular, have the side effect of causing constipation'

Thanks, WWM---that explains a lot. Should've known it was the vicodin :)

  10. Linda, she came home Saturday. In my humble nursing opinion, that was a huge mistake. But her doctor failed to ask me, TL, Buttercup or Beth what we thought. How rude!

FH, they are all famous for that very unpleasant side effect!

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  11. Linda - surgery was on Wed, and she was home on SATURDAY! As near as we can tell, she is alone. She is in pain and dealing as best she can. She broke her cell phone, so contact has been only what she has posted here.
I'll see if I can find the thread where she talks about what the surgeon saw and did once he started the surgery.

  13. Let's all try and keep this one bumped up sort of near the top so that it will be easier for MC to find it!

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  14. This centralized thread is a great idea - we need to keep it bumped up to near the top of the list though! Bumping now!

  17. MC just posted on the Cafe thread. In case she doesn't see this thread, I will copy what she put:

Just up from my little nappy for an afternoon "bed bath" with the girls! Boy that was fun! They were splishing and splashing in the water while I was trying to wash something! It was kind of a mess, but it was good to see the girls all together again, they finally think I don't smell like the vet anymore. I just smell like mom. I noticed a few packages outside but am gonna have to wait for my neighbor to carry them in cause I can't ben and pick up stuff. May have to look for that cute cop again! Yes, WWM, I am a wimp, when you peek in on me and the girls we won't be (or I won't be) causing a shennanigan's that's for sure. I hurt too much and this is way to painful to screw up or go thru again.

  18. Thanks NNGM, I was just leaving for the day and checked on this thread to see if she had posted.

  19. Hi Amy, I am thinking about you and praying for a speedy and uneventful recovery. I am so glad that Betty and Wilma have come around and realized that it has been Mom at home instead of the nasty vet. Take care.

  25. I took a bed bath today with the girls, oh what fun. More like the girls splishing and splashing in the basin and mommy giggle. That took a good hour and I started to try to seperate my hair but figured it will just be better after all the staples higher up are out. There is some hair so short there that I couldn't get ahold of it. I know I will be doing a new "radical" look when I feel better but right now I just don't give a cluck. That bath wore me out and I have been wiped the rest of the day. I had to bump up my pm pain meds after the bath but he said it may happen as I get more active. Right now the girls are watching the birds and I am lying here limp and exhausted on the couch. I see that the "i" has come out of its key on the keyboard. Hmmph, just one more thing! Girls send purrs and headbonks out to their friends out in TDK land

  26. HI MC!! Yay, getting here just in time.
Please consider taking a bath or any other exertion activity after you have taken a pain med.
Please tell us that you do have a cell phone or a working phone. Are you eating?? Oh my, we are all such mother hens.
