MCW is coming to San Diego Saturday 12th September in the afternoon. Sunday seems like the best day for a meet up. San Diego is fine or I thought south Orange County would be good also. LA peeps wouldn't have to drive so far. Irvine is what I was mulling over-Airy's neck of the woods.
Any suggestions?
The OC would work for me also. I would just need a bit of advance notice if this is after school starts...I will also cross my fingers and pray that my husband is not out of town.

Hi Linda! I actually checked it out yesterday...$140 from Oakland to OC on Southwest. Now if 2Popoki wants to share a hotel room, will keep costs down. I think I can swing it all anyways.
KW was saying last night that she is thinking about going to both the Austin and the So Cal meets.

Laguna is really handy for me, but I agree it's a nasty drive, especially since the summer tourists will still be here in mid-Sept. What about somewhere near South Coast Plaza?

SMM and I have talked of sharing a room... at that point I wasn't sure if I was going to invite man-friend along. Now, I think not. I need a girls weekend !!! Wheeee ! So - SMM, I will share a room... and perhaps KW will too. Last I talked with KW she was going to fly from TX to AZ and we were going to drive over together. That all depends on which day the meet actually happens in TX and if KW flies into Phx with enough time for us to drive to CA. Whew... it wears me out just thinking about it !
Orange County, South coast plaza area, those work well for me, about 90 min drive :)

So KW, 2P and myself can all share a hotel room and keep costs doable. I will be flying into John Wayne (Orange County). 2P, are you thinking of going and meeting up with MCW and Linda in San Diego and then all three drive up together?

SMM - I'll most likely drive straight into Oceanside. Once we have a hotel address, I'll mapquest and go direct.
If MCW is in Austin for the meet on Sept 11, and KW is there as well, it's all a timing issue if KW can fly to Phx and we still have time to drive to CA on the 11th. I hesitate to drive on the day of the meet. It's a good 6 hours... and I do need to stop on occasion. I think a complete itinerary from MCW would help - once she has that in place. Dates and times of flights....

Having grown up in the OC and lived most of my adult life in San Diego, I suggest that the South Coast Plaza/ John Wayne Airport area is geographically and logistically the best/most convenient for a Southern California meetup! Lots of good hotels are close to the airport and SCP (shuttles available), and lots of good restaurants to choose from for the get together!!
Is MCW really taking such a whirlwind trip that she's leaving the Austin, TX meetup on Sept. 11th for the San Diego meetup on Sept. 12th? WHEW!!!! I'm thinking 'jet lag' ;-)
Linda suggested the meetup be on Sunday, Sept. 13. It will give MCW a chance to "recover" from the Austin meetup on the 11th. ;)
2P and I spoke about driving together if I fly from Austin to Phoenix in time. I'm going to call her tonight. If that doesn't look practical, I'll fly from Austin to SoCal. I don't know what flight MCW will be taking, but it would be a hoot to hang out with her. I'll have plenty of opportunity for that in Austin and in SoCal. I did ask her if she would think me a stalker if I went to both of those meetups. lol

Looks like I won't be able to get to Phoenix in time to travel with 2P to the SoCal meet so I will be flying from Austin into the John Wayne airport in SoCal, then meeting up with the rest of you from there. I plan to share a hotel room with 2P and SMM if that can be coordinated. Will others be staying in a hotel? It would be fun if we were all in the same hotel. :)
