  1. I got home tonight and my oldest baby Hillies was down and could not get up. Hillies is an aussie/ springer spaniel mix and I have had her nearly 20 years. Her back legs splay out and she cant get herself up and once I get her up she is usually good, but tonight she just fell back down. I finally got her up and moving and when the other dogs had come in Hillies wasnt with them. I found her collapsed in the back yard. I got her up again and she made it to the porch and then fell on the steps and went down again. I got her a pain pill and managed to get her up the stairs and she has collapsed 3 more times inside. IF this wasnt bad enough she is having the dreaded runs and now has it in her fur cause she collapsed in it while I was at work. I will be taking her to the vet tomorrow with FM. I dont know if we can do anything for her to make her better, but I am beging to feel that is maybe time. It hasnt been so long since I said goodbye to weeone, but I cant sit by and watch my baby suffer.

Now she is aftraid to lay down, she is just standing and stairing at the couch... looking like she is hurting

  2. Ale, I'm so sorry! It sounds like it might be time - you've loved her for a long time and she knows it. You made it through saying goodbye to Weeone - maybe that has prepared you a bit better for this. Sending you lots of white light and huge amounts of hugs for both you and Hillies.

  6. *wipes a tear from her eye as she reads about Hillies and memories of a special baby of her own come back to her.... not knowing exactly what to say, but having some understanding of what you are going through she simply offers lots of hugs and prayers*

  7. Ale, I'm so sorry about Hillies. This is exactly what happened to our 18 year old lab x, even to the runs. The vet supplied us with some pain pills for her but after several days we all knew what we had to do. Mr MS still misses Nellie and her collar hangs on our livingroom wall.
Sending White Light for Hillies and {{{hugs}}} and strength for you.

  19. I am so sorry. I know the pain you are going through. I had a cat for 18 years that was my soul mate, and when the end came it was almost the worst time of my life. All I can tell you is that my one regret was not helping her to the bridge sooner. She suffered several days longer than she should have and I still feel terrible about it. You must find the strength to do the right thing for her. Many hugs.

  26. Have you ever had Hillies checked for diabetes ? Severe weakness of the rear limbs is one of the signs of advancing diabetes. Please have Hillies' fructosamine levels checked by your vet ASAP. Best of luck and please know you are in our thoughts.

  28. well we are gonna try pain killers with anti-inflamatory meds. she still is acting like she is happy and had a grand time at petsmart choosing chewies. I will be watching her and if she is still doing good in 2 weeks I will check her liver enzymes.

purr4me I have had her bloodwork checked repeatedly, she does not have diabetes she is old. Medium sized dogs rarely live past 13 years and she is way past that.

  29. (((Ale and Hillies))) Keep us posted. I hope the anti-inflamatories help. I know they keep me upright and walking some days. White light for you both.
