I am DELIGHTED that he won. I really like Jenson Button. He had such a hard time the previous 2 years and at Christmas Honda pulled out of F1, so it looked like Jenson wouldn't get a drive at all this year, then Ross Brawn took the team over and WOW! The team hasn't even got any real sponsors. Richard Branson (Virgin) has given them some money, but they don't get nearly as much as the other teams.

Ok, MC, excuse the curiosity of an Anatomy & Physiology teacher: Is there anything protecting the base of your brain now? Is the lower part of your cerebellum no longer protected by bone? Now, one of my soph students would ask, does your head wobble a bit without that first vertebra? I am so puzzled by the workings of all this, and can only imagine that I would want a neck brace on at all times! Also, can you detect improvement in the numbness of your legs and feet?

Well, no, there is no bone there. They did a sort of "sling" with my dura tissue to hold my cerebellum in. My second vertebrae now takes over the workings of the first and supports my head. This is why I will have to really strengthen my neck and strap muscles in the coming months. As for the tingling, numbness and spasms: ALL GONE! He did say I could no longer play football or shouldn't do anything stupid like race cars since my brain is a bit "exposed" now.

Hokay, really dumb question now: are you shorter? So great that the other symptoms are gone now, hopefully the headaches will disappear too!

HOORAY for all those awful symptoms being gone, MC!! Once the post-op pain is all gone, there's going to be no stopping you. But no football, you hear me young lady? :) I always laughed when doctors told me I couldn't do contact sports, I was like "Not a problem, me and sports, not a good combination".

Thanks so funny you ask that! I was wondering the very same thing, am I shorter now? I am sure I am. I can't hold my head up straight yet so I am not ready to measure myself. I want to give myself all the credit I can!

Good thing it's a long weekend here, need the extra time to get used to this! We watched the Grand Prix too, woo hoo for Jenson Button!

Right now there aren't any women drivers in F1. There was one a few years ago but women just don't seem to get a look in these days.

We are having a Memorial Day cookout a day early, although tomorrow we plan to grill steaks. Tonight - Texas barbecued chicken and homemade baked beans. After dinner we plan to watch The Patriot. (sorry, PM!!!)

ok, so we got back home, and Abby is now velcroe!.... she doesn't want to be more than literally 1 foot from me, 'cause she think's I'm leaving again! (we were only gone 3 days!).... as we speak,she's sitting on top of my desk where I'm typing, and is trying to get in my lap...!... cute little bugger!

There's no night shift tonight so I'm adding this thought to the day shift.

I wonder if we should ask KM to put a new heading up. He added the Book Club, maybe he could add something along the lines of "Poop" or "Orphaned Kittens". Lord knows, we spend 1/3 of our time discussing poop. Might as well have a heading for it.
