  1. Rushing into the Night Shift cafe, flipping on lights, plugging in the Bailey's fountain. Heating up the grill for the best bar food around. Hamburgers anyway you like, thick juicy steaks and for our vegetarian friends huge Portobello mushroom grilled on a toasted hamburger bun with all the trimmings.

    Pull up a chair!

  5. You've been very busy today, Beth! I hope your BBQ is fun tomorrow. :) We are having a small BBQ--just our two kids and their sweethearts. It should be very pleasant.

Hi, OP. I'm sure Gallo is doing the best he can. You are doing such a good job with him. ::)

  6. Beth, the person putting up all the inappropriate threads is a "troll," someone who tries to upset people on websites by posting provocative comments. KM has recommended that we simply report the person and not respond. They tend to go away if they don't get a rise out of people and KM will remove the threads. :)

  7. Hi, KW, I'm sorry, I missed your invite on the other thread before, I just posted and ran, lol... Hi, Beth and Opahall. How is everyone this evening? I am so envious, hearing about all these barbecues. It would be so nice to have that kind of weather here right now! Aww, Opahall, Gallo is such a cutie!

I have had a frustrating day, don't seem to have got much done at all. No paid employment at the moment, hoping some more will come in soon, but everybody is cutting back and down. Could soon be back on unemployment benefit but I hope not, I hate that!

  8. You have published articles about gardens in NZ haven't you, JCat? Is that the employment you last had?

  9. KW, I'm freelance with quite a few gigs. My main gig at the moment is editing scientific papers for an overseas journal and hopefully that will continue, but we just finished putting out a large volume of them so I am 'resting' between issues at the present.

And yep, I have been doing interviews for a magazine but they have cut payment rates by a large percentage and are no longer willing to pay travel expenses, which means that even if they offer me work, I may not be able to afford to do it...

This is a common situation in NZ (small country, very tiny and poor arts industry), it's happened to me so many times with magazines, publishing companies and TV scripts, I am very used to it but it's still a total bummer! Thank God for the odd overseas employer!

  10. This is a run-by entry, on my way out the door to work, wouldn't go in but its double pay for the holiday and can't afford to pass that up. So see anyone awake on the flip side of the witching hour :)

  11. Chat later, Deb, I'll be on the flipside for sure!

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  12. Hi and bye, Deb! :) I hope all is quiet tonight.

JCat, I hope you find something steady soon that pays you a good wage.

  13. I had a nice visit with my daughter today. She came by to do some sewing with me. She could easily stay at her house and sew, but we both enjoy spending the time together. I am a lucky mom!

I think I pushed myself too much tonight. I practiced a hula routine so much I pulled a muscle in my side. I think I'll had to bed. Sweet dreams to all.

  14. Thanks, KW, me too :) The cats and I will muddle through, as always, we are very lucky really. Off to watch the TV news now, back on later. Have a lovely evening, KW, and anyone else who comes on.

KW, I'm sure the fact that your daughter enjoys spending time with you isn't entirely due to luck ;-) I have a feeling I would enjoy spending time with you too. I can't sew (although I keep meaning to learn) but I can knit!

  18. I LOVE Get Fuzzy!!! OMG, that is so Fred too....

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  19. cm, yep that is my house, everyone is concerned that I may 'FORGET' to feed them their tsp of wet food morning and night. Morning to you and the girls, how was the zoo?

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  20. It was fun! Maddie saw the bears and kept telling the polar bear to get up, since he was sleeping :) Saturday was such nice weather for the zoo too..Yesterday we went to a cookout over friends house, didn't get home till almost 9..crazy..but so much fun.
    How has your weekend been?

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  21. Morning, Deb and CM, CM I was wondering how your cookout went. Is that like a barbecue? Were the girls asleep when you all came home?

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  22. JCAT, yes a cookout is a bbq. And evening, how did you day go?

CM, been purging stuff out of closets the last couple of days. Figured its time to get rid of the clothes that I won't be able to fit into any longer...if i do loose weight, then I can just buy new clothes thru the Goodwill....woo hoo shopping...

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  23. Hi jcat!!! Maddie played so much over our friends, she was wired when we got home and she needed a bath, bigtime..Abbie was fussing all the way home...so I had to settle her down..agh...
I know how that is Deb..I need to do that as well, but can't find the time.

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  24. Hi, Deb, kinda frustrating, don't seem to have got much done today but hoping to get stuck back into some wood stripping tomorrow...

I was going to ask if you had anything nice planned for your holiday weekend but you're working tonight, lol! so I guess you'll be sleeping tomorrow :)

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  25. LOL! "Get Fuzzy" is my favorite cartoon!....... and yes, it resembles my house too!.....especially Cuddles, since she has now become a meat stick addict!

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  26. wood stripping...wow jcat, you can do everything. I wouldn't even know how to begin.
Hi AV!! lol at Cuddles...meat sticks..I fed those to Maddie when she was just eating solids....remind me of Vienna Sausages.

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  27. Morning CM, Jcat, Deb and everyone still "around" from last night!.... yep, the vet said meat sticks were the best thing to give Cuddles because they would be easy on her sensitive stomach...... she usually pukes most brands of cat food......she has to eat the i/d dry food for that very reason. I started giving them to her about 2 mos. ago, and she LOVES them!..... no puking, and it has helped her "constipation" issues!......

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  28. Tee hee, it's not hard, CM, just messy. Awwww, Cuddles has found something that makes her happy, does she purr when she gets her meat sticks, AV?

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  29. Cuddles usually only purrs for daughter..... but when she does, you can hear her a block away!......she sounds like a motor boat!......come to think of it, I do hear her rumblings when I put the dish down with her meat stick in it! LOL..... silly old girl!

  30. Is the NS the cafe today? *scratches head in confusion*

Morning, All and Happy Memorial Day! Remember to thank a soldier, sailor, airman or Marine today!

Well, I'm trying to work my way out the door to the gym. I just sent Mr. WWM off on a little 37 mile bike ride out to the Vietnam Memorial and back. I had planned to go too. But with my hand being a little bit sore, and the fact that I ride a hybrid and not a road bike, I was a little worried that I might not be able to keep up with them. So it's off to the gym.
