Online Dating Site Horror Stories

(20 posts)
  1. I decided to check out the free weekend of that famous dating site with harmony in it's name...I was a paying member 3 years ago and was matched with men who were either horrible or my complete opposite. Anyway, this weekend, among my "soulmates"...

A man who states he cannot live with cats
    An avid sports hunter
A man who spends all of his time attending sporting events and proclaims "I am a Bulldawg tried and true, and I am housebroken" (I hate sports)

    Great job eH!

  2. LOL, CW!!!!! They sure know how to match 'em up, huh?

  3. Hubby and I crack up at the ads for those sorts of sites, because we know there's no way in heck they'd ever put us together :)

  4. The sad thing is, I would be perfectly content if they said they had trouble finding a man who matches me. Instead, though, they simply match me with EVERYONE! I mean, what are they possibly using to match us? "You both breathe oxygen and are bipeds! We're sure this will lead to a happy relationship!"

  5. Well, CW... this is just my opinion. Well, and Mr. WWM's, too. You are so pretty that they should be rushing to meet you! And one of my best friends in the Army used to say that "We don't like to hang around with people who don't like to talk and laugh". That made you an instant hit because you do both!

*begins to look for a good looking, rich Texas oilman for CW*

  6. Rich is good! LOL

Mainly what I would want is someone who is a reader like myself, animal lover, nice, likes the arts, and bonus points if he likes to cook (I love to eat!) and is a writer. I am not much into attending sporting events and rarely watch television, so a man who spends a lot of time doing either would not be someone I would be interested in. I told that to my friend Donna's husband (you met her at the Florida lunch) and he looked at me incredulously and said, "But that's how we roll!"

  8. Good Lord...I just looked back through my "matches" (over 150 of them) and some of them are still active members that were matched to me in 2006!

Out of the new matches, there were three that sounded good. So far, none of the three has answered my request for communication. However, all of the ones I wasn't interested in are contacting me. *cries*

  10. CW...Never compromise your expectations...you deserve true happiness on your terms and all good things come to those who wait. It will happen one day and will be SOOOOO worth getting it right. =)

  18. In all seriousness, when I married my husband he was an avid mountain biker. And I hate to sweat. He also once referred to my reading fantasy novels in terms that suggested he thought I was getting involved with the dark arts, for real. However, we learned to accept each others' hobbies. So, he watches the Tour de France and other TV shows and I read instead. We play computer games together (which I never did until I met him) and he is learning to garden. So if your core values/what you want out of the relationship are the same, I am not sure that lack of shared hobbies is such a big deal. Of course, I kind of like having my own "space" and doing my own thing.

Now, "cannot live with cats" is a dealbreaker.

  19. CW, you have to remember that it is the lack of decent men that gives us the freedom to be happy cat ladies! A decent man would love our furry children, the trolls out there will say stupid things like "If a cat jumped into MY lap, the cat would fly into the nearest wall". Yes I had an as@$ole actually say that to me! Needless to say he never set foot in my home!

I do the online dating as well and never have I found a good match for me either. Funny thing is I met two of my best friends that way! Go figure!!
