  1. Guess I've been lucky; only been to ER twice. I don't really remember the first time - was in anaphalactic (sp?) shock due to a bee sting, second time I was "the lady with the dog bites"!

  2. Hi, all! I'm late today because I had to take Chance to the vet this morning. I called and just did a drop-off and came into work and he will call me when he sees him. He's been licking himself alot and growling when he does it as if he's in pain. Plus, he hasn't been as lively as usual. Nothing different in the litter box, but I'll have to wait and see what the vet comes up with.

  3. You know SM I have always wanted to teach (university level) but there just seem to be too many politics involved. All I ever wanted to do was to help students learn. I think you are the kind of teacher I would have loved to have had! Joan, I think I have been to the ER enuff for all of us on this site! LOL

  4. Yes, MC, I agree with your being to ER enough times for us all!!!!!!! LK, I hope Chance is okay!
SM, aren't all summers busy?? They are SO short and they fly by, and you wonder, what happened??!!
AZ, hope you at least had a huge chunk of cheesecake or chocolate for your birthday :)

  5. Good morning, TDKers (too old to remember everyone's name from the last page!) :) Hope everyone is doing well today. Can you say, "Final exam day?"
I have soooooo much to do (get everything packed up for the summer) that I've decided to do nothing, and feel good about it--that means TDK time for me (although I do need to pass out exams so they'll at least be quiet). I'd love a Starbuck's raspberry mocha right now and a breakfast burrito, but I guess the yogurt will have to do.

  6. Same here, MC. I have the opportunity to get an MLS (Master's in Library Science), but the tenure politics are just insane. I'd be slamming heads together and swingin' the clue-by-four every day. (lol)

I swear I'm not a Type A, even though I love red and drive a red car... but my tolerance for BS is getting lower as I get older....

I have an old house and old pipes too. Our toilet backs up fairly regularly.

  7. I was offered the position of Associate Prof several years ago and would have taken it except for the real divide between the Phd's and MS's. It was totally unnecessary!!! You know, all I did was flush the toilet (nothing exciting to flush either) and swoosh! Out gushes water!!! It's annoying cause I never know when it is going to happen!! 4am bathroom break is NOT when I wanted it to happen! My landlord said he has no intention of putting in new pipes! LOVELY!

  8. LK Chance will be in my prayers today. I pray that the vet will find the problem and it will be easy to solve.

As for the ER--what the heck can I say. I had no dicernable speech and no function on my right side. I had an 8 mm bleed on my brain and was sat in a room for 6 hours before a doctor came to see me. When he did he was horrified that I had been there. The intake nurse wrote sinusitus on my chart. You know I do have chronic sinusitis, but I sure didn't have that problem that day! I can say that the intake ER that received me from the medivac was much different. The neurosurgeon was there waiting for the helicopter.

  9. FH my finals were last Wednesday! I was so happy. And they did fairly well on them--they could care less but I care! I closed my room Tuesday--although I will be back in it today--have to pick up my coffee pot!

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  10. Hi Siobhan. I have the work ethic of a classic type A but that is the end of it. I am pretty laid back.

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  11. God Bless the neurosurgeons!!! :D

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  12. Oh, can't live w/out the coffee pot! :)
I'm giving my students points to grid that ends up making a picture--something they like to do and, hopefully, will remember how to do it.
I can't believe I've actually made it to the end of this year! It's been a hard one, physically, so I'm glad it's over. I've had a great bunch this year, thank goodness! And, my classes did better on their state tests than the other math teachers--vindication!!!

  13. Yes MC, I agree you've covered enough for all of us at the ER!
SM, it's really nice down at McGuire. I was down there last year when my uncle was buried at the military cemetary.

  14. Well! that was an interesting shopping experience!..... just my luck, I got there as they were unloading the "cardiac express"..... so as I'm finagling my way down the isles, EVERYTHING I need is gone!.... I ask the produce manager for a certain type of lettus, he says "oh yeah", let me go get some in the back... so he goes and gets me what I want..... I get to the meats - NO CHICKETN THIGHS!..... I'm like you're kidding! oh wait, I bet you need to go get some in the "back"..... the guy says yeah.... goes and gets me 2 large packs......

... makes note to self * don't shop at the sparrow fart hour * because THEY DON'T HAVE THE STORE RESTOCKED YET!!!!!

  15. ... saw a strange news story on Today show... someone died in an ER because she passed out on the floor - IT TOOK SO LONG for someone to pay attention to her, she was dead!!! REALLY!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibkBowfZ7g8

    it's on utube!

  16. I have 20-25% sped. I was thrilled with the last exam. The average score was a 72%. Only 5% actually that didn't pass. I was happy. Won't see state results until August/September. The other 2 that teach what I do have similiar scores--they just don't have the sped population. I have to say I love my job, but the credit goes to the kids--I make huge demands and rarely do they disappoint me!

  17. Okay off to the school for a bit--thinking about moving a bed in there!

Posted 2 years ago by SoxsMom #

  18. AV glad you survived the cardiac express! that is so funny! I shouldn't laugh but it is too funny!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  19. "Cardiac Express" AV, that is toooo funny. LOL.

Posted 2 years ago by katthays #

  20. Glad your toilet problem is fixed, MC.
AV--I do not shop the Krogers by my school because of all of the elderly people who shop there (it's a very old neighborhood). I love older folks, but they just don't need to be in my way when I'm trying to flit through the store as fast as I can. It's for THEIR own good, believe me! ;)

  21. Good morning, Everyone!!! Sparrow fart??????

I'm back from the gym but not cleaned up yet so the girls are avoiding me. I wish that I had something thrilling planned for the day but what I have to do is research on the book that my book group read. We meet Tuesday here at my house so that means I'm the moderator.

    Sparrow fart????

  22. Sparrow fart! You like that WWM! Not sure what time that is exactly on the clock!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  23. Well, I just want to know exactly what time that is!

*cancels grocery trip on the Cardiac Express*

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  24. Morning, WWM! You always make me feel like a lazy slug in the morning, although I did do my weights this morning, after closing the bedroom door to keep from scaring the cat :)

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  25. Poor Georgie!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  26. Yay, Kilroy!!!! Honestly, I wouldn't go to the gym as early as I do if it weren't for my gym buddy. She has to be there early to get home and get to work. We're doing 8 sessions with a trainer - first one was Tuesday. I think it will be good and will shake up my routine.

  27. .... "sparrow fart".... according to MS is sometime prior to 5:00am.... she "coined the phrase" in the NS last night!... LOL

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  28. Wow, my toilet overflowed at sparrow fart minus one hour! LOL

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  29. Hi everyone!!!
LK, I hope Chance is okay. Please let us know how he is doing...
WWM, sparrow fart is about 5-6am :) We had a discussion about this on the NS at about 6 am this morning with our NZ friends.

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  30. Well then, I guess I get up at "sparrow fart" seeing how I arise at 4 a.m. :))
