Chance has a urinary infection, which the vet said was in the early stages. My vet was very thorough to make sure it wasn't something else. He took x-rays and did tests so that we would know it wasn't something more serious.
Chance is taking medication, but he's still a little slow-moving this morning.Posted 2 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

Hi LK! {{{Chance}}} A couple days of meds, and he will be feeling better, I'm sure! *picks up a baby Maine Coon to snuggle*

Hi KH & PM! KH, I'm very happy for them - when they were talking about buying a house, I sent them a real estate book for NJ!

Good Morning to everyone still here (waves)! I will have some jello and sprite. I was up last night throwing up so I want to take it easy on my tummy! So glad Chance is home and good for him taking it slow.

Oh, I love cheese and grapes. Add in some summer sausage and I'm a happy camper. Easier for lunch than for brekkie, though (lol).
One of our neighborhood kitties that I had been calling "Mr. Boots" for years (tuxie cat with white feet) has turned out to be "MS. BOOTS" and she had some kittens last weekend! Silly me, I didn't notice the girlie 'business end' (lol).
I want another baby kitty, but the spousal unit, who also cleans the cat box, says no....ah well. I don't dare look at the babies, or I'll begin whining. :-)

Hi MC & Sio! barf-o-rama - must remember that one! Always nice to add some levity to a sickie situation. Sio, I too would have lots of trouble trying not to see the kittens without whining about wanting one...or two...or three. "I fear to look, yet I cannot turn away!"

Sorry, MC, that you're not feeling so well this morning. I prescribe rest and a bundle of kitties for comfort.
Sioban, Ms. Boots gave you a surprise. Newborns are so sweet that they melt your heart.
The good thing for Chance is that he doesn't seem to be having pain anymore, so I am thankful for that. Tomorrow I take Smudge for her annual checkup and shots (the vet gave Chance's to him yesterday since the infection would not interfere with what he needed at this time).
I'm off for another busy day at work then to the zoo to help with Family Fun Night.Posted 2 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

LK, I am so glad that Chance only had a UTI and it was caught early. ((Chance))Okay...I am off to get Maddie dressed, I have to go to the doctors today for bloodwork on me, so I have been up since 5:30 getting ready and then at 7:30 got Abbie up to feed her and dress her. Made brekkie for Maddie and now have to get out the door by 9:30. Then after the dr..have to pick up my prescription then get Maddie some nuggets. I promised her Mcdonalds for lunch..hmmm maybe that's why she is not eating breakfast...lol
See you later all. have a wonderful day!

I'm glad Chance is getting treated for his UTI. :-)
When I don't feel well, chicken and rice soup seems to do the job for me. I like the homemade kind, with chicken broth and instant rice (or leftover cooked white rice). Very easy on the tummy, soothing warmth, easy to digest. Is your jello and Sprite the kind with sugar, MC? Gotta keep nutrition going in...especially electrolytes when you're vomiting.
Gonna play in the dirt some more this weekend. I think I have enough flowers now to fill most of my planters.
We're gonna do ribs on the grill tomorrow (smacks lips in anticipation). Hubby will be marinating them today. Low heat/slow cooking and >no< pre-boiling the ribs on the stove. For the last hour of cooking, we took a trick from Bobby Flay: wrap the ribs in foil and put them back on the grill, this keeps the steam in and makes the ribs even more tender. This is when you can put BBQ sauce on them, if you want. We tend to prefer dry rubs, they don't give either of us acid back-up :-) Big salads to go with it, with the tender lettuces from our garden. Maybe some taters on the grill, maybe some noodles/pasta with cheese, I haven't decided yet. I went to Sam's yesterday and bought a 4-pack box of brownie mix. Yum Yum.

I will be at Siobhan's house this weekend "sampling" the food if you need me! I actually have Sprite Zero and Sugar Free jello!

Skeleton crew here today; letting the sickies stay home with their germs. Just transportation (me), payroll, superintendent and business administrator. Hopefully those of us left standing haven't been exposed.

Said since they were playing around back in the area of the brain where nausea and vomiting are that it wouldn't be unusual for me to throw up for a while.

MC, be sure to keep hydrated; even just sips or ice chips help.
Siobhan, what time is the grilling? You'll have TDK company! YUM!Posted 2 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

Goodness knows, I'll certainly have plenty of salad along with those ribs (lolol) Hubby put up a small fence around it to keep Mr. Buns out of it.
Sassy bunny showed up in the middle of our deck a couple evenings ago. It drove Hermes nuts, all the chattering and tail-swishin' he was doing was fun to watch.

Outside animals always seem to know when an indoor one can't get to them and tease the heck out of them!

Hi! Anyone still around in the cafe? I need some baking advice!
I am trying to bake a three tiered chocolate cake for my sisters' wedding (my parents are making the official fruit cake, but many people don't like fruit cake so she's asked me to do a chocolate 'waterfall' cake for her). Normally, I bake the cake in two tins, and put cream in the middle. That's not an option here as I have to make the cake 3 days before the wedding, and because of the tiers it would crush any filling. So instead I'm making a thick cake for each tier. The trouble I'm having is getting the large amount of mixture to cook, without burning the top of the cake. Also, I need them to be as flat as possible - my practice cakes have a tendancy to split along the middle and becme rounded on top, like a loaf of bread.
Do I turn the oven down, or will that dry out the cake? Should I cover them with foil? Any other ideas?
