  1. I came home from wotk tonight and found Wolfie crouched in the litterbox. He is blocked--on a Saturday night so an emergency vet visit...if he requires $2000 of surgery I will have to put him to sleep. Please pray that he unblocks.

  2. Oh no! I just caught this before I signed off. Been there, done that. I hope they can get him unblocked. Of course it always happens on a weekend!

  8. Well, he did not need surgery as he was able to go after we got there and were put in a room...I was never so glad to have a cat pee on my pants before.. Then the vet palpated his bladder and he let loose a torrent of pee...it was actually pretty unbelievable. I had given him fluids and a steroid pill to try to stave off the emergency vet visit (since my vet is open on Saturday until noon) but he stayed crouched like that, shaking, when I picked him up he growled and spit (he never does either) so I supposed he was in awful pain. I hope I'm making sense since I am exhausted and it us nearly 2:00 am. And I have to work tomorrow! The vet thinks he has urinary tract disease and needs to be on prescription food. I'll call my vet in the morning to get some, but I remembered we tried it and Wolfie wouldn't eat it.
    Thank you so much for the prayers and white light. I thought I would have to put him to sleep tonight and I was very upset.

  9. So glad you were able to bring him home. Hoping this time he will try the food. Maybe if he gets hungry enough? Get some sleep!

  11. Thinking of you, Wolfie and CW. At least he had relief, and it's treatable. With the prescription food, I think you're going to have to hang in there, and keep refreshing it till eventually he will eat. Keep him indoors, if he's an outdoor cat, so he has no access to other food. Cats will resist new food for up to 3 days, then hunger takes its course, so they say. I wish you the best of luck with this.

    I am so glad he was able to pee! I hope that Wolfie can get on the right track and that this will be the end of the problems. I will have you both in my thoughts and prayers.

  13. Poor Wolfie. I'm so thankful he wasn't blocked, CW, you must have been desperate at the thought you might lose him. I hope his condition improves quickly and dramatically, poor boy. {{{Wolfie and CW}}}

  15. CW, there are several companies that make prescription food for urinary tract disease. Ask your vet for one can of each and let Wolfie do a taste test. There may be one that he likes. I'm glad this crisis has passed (pun intended). Poor guy. I remember how bad I felt for Gibbie when he had those problems.

  16. CW, As you know Wilbur has kidney disease and has had surgery, lots of visits to the vet school, etc.... He is doing so well. As for Wolfie not eating the special diet I have several suggestions. It sounds as though he has urinary calculi. They have given Wilbur potassium citrate (2x a day) to increase his levels and fomodine (2x a day). He really likes Royal Canin renal diet. T-Do has gained about a pound because he LOVES it. I switch off Science Diet NF and Royal Canin. They eat it up. I have only fed dry crunchy food but have added the wet prescription diet for Wilbur after he gets his meds in the evening. He only eats about a tablespoon of the wet Science Diet and he licks all of the "juice'" off of the Royal Canin! Such a fussy kitty! Please do not jump at "putting him to sleep". I know it is hard when they are ill but there are often options. Keep your chin up, hold good thoughts and love him every day! I'm sending white light and good thoughts and lots of prayers!

  19. CW I can't imagine how hard it was to see him last night trying to go! I am so very thankful he didn't need surgery. I pray that the medicine will work for him and that you can find a renal diet that he will at least tolerate. Prayers of strength to you to get through the day. Maybe one of the foods that Puddytat uses will appeal to Wolfie--Wolfie try and get the food down, you will pee better!

  22. Prayers for Wolfie and CW. I hope you can find a food he will eat. I know what a struggle I had to get Tessie to eat and if I had been limited to one type of food I probably would have been feeding her with a syringe. She didn't like that when I had to do so but it would start her eating sometimes.

  23. I worked all day and met my son for a belated Mother's Day dinner and a movie afterward. When I got home, Wolfie was asleep on my bed. I gave him his meds and fed everyone, then logged into TDK and was shocked to read the news about Terri. I'm so sad. I only got three hours sleep last night and was looking forward to bed, but I doubt I will fall asleep for a long time.
