   I haven't been on in about a week and a half. This is mainly because my laptop screen broke. I left my laptop on the couch and Feeny jumped up, accidentally knocked it off, and the screen got messed up. I thought it would be okay because I have a good protection plan on my computer, but I called and apparently apple says they won't cover that and it will take....get this..800 dollars?!?!? to repair??? I can get a new computer for that much money! I don't have that kind of money. Anyways, I just today realized that there is another way to get to the internet (before I couldn't see it on the screen because the place to click it was hidden behind where the screen was broken). Now I can scrunch it up into the corner of my screen I can read and use the internet. I've been searching around and found a place that will fix the screen for 269 dollars(MUCH better than through apple), so I'm saving money from my pay for the next few weeks to put aside to fix it. Until then I can live with using the corner of the screen.

   In much happier news, my grades came in! I got a 4.0 (all A's!) this semester and two of them were A+s. I'm so excited that I did so well.

   Summer classes start tomorrow and I'm kind of sad to start back up again so soon, but it's okay.

   Feeny and Taco are doing well. I took Taco to the vet to figure out about his teeth and everything seems to be alright with them, although there was a small layer of plaque. I'm going to start brushing to help prevent decay since he is only on wet food and will be for life because of his condition.

   Also, I wanted to say I was devastated when I came back to TDK and heard the horrible news of what happened. It is really such a tragedy. I hope you guys all know how much I love and cherish every one of you every day.

   Congratulations on the 4.0!!!! Way to go!!!!! You can begin classes tomorrow knowing that there is nothing they can throw at you that you can't handle!

   Happy to hear from you Gini....Oh Man...Feeney surely did a number to your laptop alright! I know he feels so bad about it though. Or..... he was jealous and decided to take matters into his own paws. Hahahah! Only teasing.....Congratulations on the 4.0!! WoooooHooooo! I'm sooooo proud of you for doing such a great job. It's alot of work and you really stepped up to the plate. The boy's pics are great. Both look wonderfully healthy and happy. =)

    Gini, I had something similar happen to me (my son accidentally stepped on Linus the Lush, lost his balance, and flipped my ONE-WEEK-OLD laptop onto his head, cracking the screen. I also got sticker shock from Geek Squad.

    What I did was surf e-bay. I found a screen of the same make and model computer as mine (he had spilled liquid on his keyboard), and bid for it. I got it for $125 + shipping. When it arrived, my husband (who has been a software engineer for 20 years now) installed it. He said it was meticulous work, but straightforward. He said all you have to do is "take the usual precautions with electronics" (whatever that means).

    Perhaps if you know someone who is good with electronics, you can get him/her to install it for you. There may be something you can do in return that utilizes your talents.

    Congrats on the grades! I got A's in 4 out of 5 of my spring classes. My summer courses start up on Tuesday. Good luck on saving up money for your laptop, computers can be such a pain!

    Gini, If you would not object to having your computer and screen separate--I did for years--I can mail you a gorgeous Viewsonic flatscreen monitor that is otherwise headed to Goodwill. I used it with a Mac G3 tower. You would need to download the drivers from ViewSonic's web site, but otherwise it should solve your problem perfectly. I'f you could just cover the shipping--about $25 I would guess--it's yours to keep. The G3 needs a home, too, but it's way too big to be cost effective to ship. But the monitor is light and very nice. Let me know.

    There is a temporary solution if you have access to a computer monitor (no help at school or other travels). You can hook up an external monitor and use that screen for viewing.

    OOPS missed the offer on the Viewsonic. That is a lovely gesture.

    Concats on your grades! And yes, use an external monitor---we do at work all the time so we can read our spreadsheets. I bought an Acer netbook and plugged in my old (7 years) monitor--works like a charm!
