  1. Hey all!

I have a few problems with my new baby kitten!

The kittens were left by the mother cat two weeks after they were born.
My parents cared for the kittnes and bottle fed them, and bathed them.

They are all super cute and super happy 6 week old kitties today!

I adopted one of the kittens from my parents.

Shes have a really hard time using the litter box, and her stool seems to be very loose. I'm not sure if this is a kitten thing or a sign that she may be sick, or the reason she isn't using the box.

The other problem i'm having with her is that because my parents had bathed the kittens every night, she does not clean herself.
She'll get kitten poo on her, or dirt, and she never makes an attempt to clean herself.

I tried to let it go, thinking maybe if i did not bathe her she would realize it was something she had to do on her own and instinct would kick in but it just got out of hand and figured it was way too unhealthy to leave her dirty like that, so i have been bathing her again...

    i need some help!!

    Thanks!!!!

  2. Hi Mello - welcome to TDK! I don't have much experience with kittens that young, but there's a lot of knowledge around here so I'm sure someone will be along to help. It's kind of subdued here today due to the sudden loss of a long time TDK poster.

  4. Hi Mello.... I has the kitten had a change in diet? If it is loose and runny make sure kitten stays hydrated...watch her activity level because kittens can get dehydrated quickly so watch her intake of food and water..it also wouldn't hurt to call the vet and ask...I know I do...it makes my feel better...as for the bath and not cleaning herself it should come because it is instenctive....but to help her get a damp washcloth and clean her gently....like a mamma kitty would and she will get it... I have raised Gallo since he was 2 days old....there are some really wonderful mammas here that will beable to help you more.....I hope I was able to help you

  8. Love the name! Yes, a change in food can cause a temporary tummy upset, but watch for dehydration---some Pedialyte is helpful. Mama teaches them how to clean themselves so you are at a disadvantage, but should learn in time. Is the litter box too deep for her to get into easily? It should be shallow so baby can get in easily. Good luck!

  9. Has the baby been checked for parasites? Worms will also cause bowel problems. As will sudden changes in diet.

    AND NO COWS MILK!
