A wonderfully written music blog-piece that would fit quite nicely into any of the smaller,GENUINE alternative music mags,MR!! bravo!I've not heard of any of these bands, which is the strength of your feature.Having to have played catch-up on good emerging music/artists in the last 5-7 years,I really appreciate your interests and writing style. As I DJ'ed in low-powered local radio between '01-'05 I'm always grateful to meet a fellow audiophile like yourself.Thank you very much,MeezerRoboto, for doing the job few can aspire to,thank you....;-)

MR - very interesting piece. Nice to know Indie music is still alive and well. Have you come across Bats for Lashes? "Whats a girl to do" is a beautiful song.

Thank-you VERY much again,MR!!
I was finally able to track down this thread again as it dropped off the main pages pretty quickly,The first time around I had trouble with the downloads on the links in your blog. This time however,I was able to listen to Linda Strawberry and The Young @ Heart Chorus. NICE!!!Real interesting stuff, both of them! Firstly though,to The Young At Heart Chorus.I've actually HEARD/heard of these guys before!! I'm originally from Springfield,MA.,which is only 18mi. from where they reside in Northampton, which is next door to UMass/Amherst and I was listening to NPR Radio/WFCR from Northampton when I was visiting in 2002 and heard them perform.(W/FCR stands for "Five College Radio",meaning UMass,Mt.Holyoke,Smith,Hampshire and 1 more I'm criminally mental-blocking on!)
You can't help but be absolutely MOVED by their interpretations of modern pop songs, these 70,80 and 90 somethings!!Coldplay's "Fix You"??Simply amazing! Linda Strawberry is also pretty unique with her own take on what at first listen sounds to me like an appreciative, wistful nod to late 70's,early 80's proto-punk and power pop.A strong funky rythmn guitar/bass/drum propelled song
that's a pretty infectious groove! Keep your spark alive with your blog,MR and don't forget what someone famous once said and was also our sign-out tagline at
102.1fm in Friday Harbor for 4 years,"Good music is WHERE you find it,WHEN you find it!!"...."Stick it in your ear." :D
