I didn't see a cafe started for today so I thought I would start one. Seems like everyone has had so much going on in their lives lately! Today we are going to do a brunch type buffet. There are all sorts of breakfast items as well as cookout leftovers from last nite's NS. Come on in and help yourself to some goodies, there is plenty to go around. It is downright cold here today as I am wrapped up in a big thick blanket. Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday so far. What is new in your world today???

Good morning, MC! Wow - everyone must have overslept! This is a non-gym day for me, and so I did get to sleep later. What a luxury! But the girls started tromping around on the bed around 7:00 because it was time for their breakfast.
Guess what - we have a hummingbird nest in a tree right outside the kitchen window!!! Okay, I know that's not earthshaking news, but I have never seen a hummingbird nest before. We are leaving the binoculars right by the window to keep tabs on the goings-on.
We have another warm day on tap here - should be in the high 90's.

Morning, all. Ooh, I'm jealous of your hummingbird nest, WWM; the most we get around here are pigeons and seagulls, bleah.
Hi MC, how are you feeling today? How are your girls? Are they still taking good care of you?
Hi, CM! Boo on chores, I say hang out here! Hugs to your sweet girls.
-
WWM, that is exciting, just don't let the girls get any "ideas" about the birds! Brr..... it is downright cold here today! No high 90s here. It got to the 30s last nite here. Me and Wilma are all wrapped up in blankets! Is it cold by you CM?

Doing pretty good here today besides freezing. I have my follow up MRI this afternoon to make sure everything is healing properly inside my head!

Morning Kilroy and WWM...
It's chilly here rainy...only low 60's which is chilly for June.. Plus we are stuck in the house which stinks for Maddie.
Let us know the results MC...Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

Hi MC, CM, WWM & Kilroy!
Cool, a hummingbird nest!
Hubby and I went out to vote last night and had our usual date night. We vote, then go out to eat. It's still tough going to the firehouse to vote; there's a nice display in honor of my late uncle. People must think I'm crazy, leaving the polls with tears in my eyes...
Leela sends a big shout out to everyone - she is looking forward to going to the rink. She doesn't know much about wakes, but she knows she will see some of her friends. Maybe Fred will tell her more stories about Shaddo!Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

awww Joan ((Joan)) How bittersweet for you to see your uncle, be proud and sad at the same time.
Leela, Fred will tell you lots of stories. He misses his friend and loves to talk about him :)

My girls are looking forward to the skate wake too! They love seeing all their kitty friends! They aren't sure what a "wake" is but they say if they furr-iends are there they will have a nice time! They are still picking out what to wear!

Joan, I can understand that about seeing the plaque. But I know how proud you are of your uncle and how wonderful that he has been honored.
Kilroy, seagulls? Uh... we don't have those here.
MC, I will be anxious to know the results of your MRI. Everything had better be where it belongs!
I think that I am off to make waffles. Before you get too impressed, they are Egg-O's! I have a waffle iron but really, why bother?

Good Morning Ladies. I need coffee!!! The coffee maker took a dump on us this morning!!! Argh! Jeff's in the kitchen rigging up some hobo coffee right now. Whew!
It's cloudy and cooler here today...had some thunder storms again last night. Sorry it's so chilly for you MC but glad the girls are there to keep you warm.
I Love Hummingbirds WWM! How wonderful to have them right outside the kitchen window. Awesome!
Hugs Joan....Bittersweet to go out and do your patriotic duty..but it's always good to remember loved ones.
Hi Kilroy! =) -
I love humming birds. Actually I love most birds. My family on the other hand is less tolerant. Daughter is afraid of birds due to an altercation with a goose. Husband hates them because they are messy. To bad he didn't take the barn swallow nest down when they built it. The eggs are in the nest and now he has to wait. The only bad part is they nested above the front motion detector.
Maddie remember with the rain the flowers will grow, and then you can pick another bouquet for your Mom!!!
Stay warm everyone--well except maybe those in AZ and TX--they need to stay cool!

I've heard that red flowers attract hummingbirds. As I sat outside one summer day, I saw what I thought was a big bug by my hanging basket of red impatients. It was a hummingbird - just a few feet from me; totally awesome!
On another topic - my nephew received his Boy Scout Eagle Award this past weekend. I did not attend, but got a full report. He is a true leader, and he built a playground at his church as his project. My brother gave the last speech, wearing THREE Eagle Awards - one was my Dad's, one for his son, the new Eagle, and his own. Dad was surely smiling down proudly; his legacy was scouting. My Mom attended and was very proud. My other brother, also an Eagle Scout, proudly attended as well.Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

Oh CM....I didn't mean to leave you out of my greeting. Still needing coffee. I was thinking of Maddie being stuck inside and all that can entail when you are trying to accomplish those dasturdly chores that never go away. I sure love her new haircut!
Hi SM! How are you feeling today? Sorry the birds built their nest in such an inconvenient location. Wish we could reason with nature but as yet we haven'y learned how to speak barn swallow. =(

Good Morning. I thought I'd drop by the cafe I don't often get a chance. I took this week off in the hope that it wouldn't be too hot yet but also warm enough to open windows so I can get my living room ceiling painted and the pine tongue and groove varnished. I've been working at it all week but it is slow going. I can only have my arms above my head for so long before my body starts to holler enough enough

Morning, family!
WWM - no seagulls? When I left Florida for Colorado I thought I had seen the last of the seagulls, only to see them here in Denver! I was stunned to say the least, sure didn't expect to see them in a land-locked beach-less state. When we went to Salt Lake, Utah, I was again stunned to see so many there! I didn't even get a chance to miss them, there are so many around up here.
{{{MC}}} hope everything looks great on that MRI.Posted 2 years ago by KarenCentennial #

I have a scouting daughter as well. She belongs to an Adventure Crew at present. It is a mix of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. They are all older. All but one of the guys already has his Eagle Scout, but not all the girls did Silver and Gold. Scouting is a great tradition Joan, and I think you are right--your Dad is smiling down proudly on his family, and so is you heroic uncle.

Me too! I hope they find a brain in there! LOL Don't need them 'trying' to stick me 9 times again to get in an IV! I am telling them two sticks and I am done this time around!

MC, hope everything goes smoothly with the MRI, boy do I ever hate those things. Make sure they give you earplugs or headphones (not that music helps much). {{MC}} I hope you luck out with the IV, too, it stinks when they can't get it in. The last time I had an MRI I told the guy who came in to do the IV "I'm probably going to swear at you" and he asked why. "Because this is going to hurt", I said. "Oh, really" he said, and then I realized it was already done! He said he used to be an EMT and had to insert IVs in the back of moving ambulances, so this was a piece of cake. I hope you get one like that, MC.
Hi to everyone else!

Oh thank you Joan....what a relief! The coffee is delish! My oldest son called me last night. He's a computer tech at the elementary school where he grew up along with his late brother Bryan who passed when he was attending there in the 6th grade (1987) Every year since his passing there has been an award given to a student who most displayed the warm, bright, generous qualities so many people had come to love Bryan for over his years there. The Bryan Dias award will be presented today at the graduation ceremony. It's always a tearful but warm reminder of how special our Bryan was. =)

No seagulls, here Karen. I love hummingbirds, too. I don't think I've ever seen a nest. The eggs and babies have to be really tiny. SM, I'm not exactly scared of birds but I really don't like them flying about inside. It makes me really nervous. I knew a shirt tail relative that enjoyed letting them out when I was there. Not funny. Needless to say I didn't visit often and I understand how your daughter feels.

SM, I started redoing my livingroom well over a year ago. My brother in love and sister have helped with the paneling. Its not done yet but I'm getting what I can get done and hope to inspire him to help get the rest finished. I'm really tired of camping in my own house. I'm not complaining about the slowness of the work because a lot of things happened that weren't under our control that held up progress but I'm still tired.

Hi everyone who came in :) In and out today...had to make Maddie some lunch..I was surprised she wanted to eat so early since she got up at 8:45! Then had breakfast but hey.. So she is watching Dora eating some pizza...
Abbie is still asleep..whoo!! My last load of laundry is in the washer and I still need to do dishes and vacuum but that can wait.Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

I really think the goose was just a reinforecement. When she was 6 we were at my brother's house and his daughter let the parakeets out of the cage. The blue tick healer chased the birds and caught one. There were feathers all over! It was traumatic. The best part was she was able to help her cousin get the bird. He actually lived--minus several feathers. The screech of the bird is what first alerted me--then my daughter screamed. She was very upset. I will never have a bird in the house. But I sure love sitting on the porch and watching them.
-
My break is over. I've got to go finish the section of the ceiling I'm working on. Catch you later I agree I like to watch birds outside where they belong, none in the house
