Joan, that is great! You guys are helping me have a more positive day today! I was really bummed out when I got up today, I think everything that happened yesterday I was just sad. Plus my boss called today and I don't have the umph to listen to her message. She is always so negative.

Good morning all. Late start here. Manager has been out at a big conference in Las Vegas so I took advantage of it this week. Got in to work late on Monday and today and left early on Tues and Wed about 15 minutes. Today I plan to leave again 15 minutes early. What with tomorrow being Friday, I hope to leave early with possibly around 2 or 3pm. We were suppose to leave early (around 2 or 3pm) the Friday before Memorial Day but the manager said the day got away from her and she forgot to notify us (gee thanks). I am tired and not wanting to be at work today since I have had very little to work on all week. May I have a nice eggs benedict with a nice chilled mimosa please. Since it is virtual, make that two of the mimosa or just a very large glass please.
Congrats on your 32nd anniversary Siobhan!! That is fantastic! Any wise words for those of us who are still single or single again?
Good luck with the arrival of your new kitty, M2MC. Hope it goes smoothly. Can't wait to see more pictures and read more about her.
Leela sounds like such a good girl to you Joan. I read this: "Purring may be a signaling mechanism between mother cats and nursing kittens. One theory is that it is not a sign of showing love but attempting friendship, for example, when a cat is nervous (at a Vet perhaps) it may purr to avoid being hurt." So cats purr when they are happy or when they are scared. I know Sylvester will purr when he is at the vets so I call it his defensive purr but then when he is really happy he has this deep resounding purr and of course he is curling his front paws. Mia purrs very lightly but in rare moments when she is really happy I can hear her. This only happens when she plays in the bathtub (no water in it) and I climb in to sit with her.
What do you mean after yesterday happened, Mollycat? What happened? The memorial?

The memorial to begin with and then the fiasco with my MRI. Thinking how close I came to having my brain torn to shreds is just hard to stomach for me.

MC, I hope you can do something about that nurse practitioner. That is a malpractice suit in the making!! Yes, I can understand your being quite shaken up about it. Thank God for your doctors.

It's just unnerving to me. I think Terri was there to help me with that!

Poor CM, what a day you are having! Note to self, help CM to train Maddie to either try to hold it in and run to the bathroom or to the kitchen to throw up in the sink. Also to send her a case of air freshener and a note to CM's MIL to come take the kids and give CM a "Day to Yourself" day or two.

CM needs a day for herself to pamper herself!

I make the mistake of trawling Craigslist looking at the cats and kittens up for adoption. This little one looks just like Sylvester when he was this age. Oh boy do I want this little girl but cannot as I am at my limit at my apt complex (only two cats allowed).

Just popping in for a minute then finish the workday and do laundry. I'm taking tomorrow off and doing some housecleaning. Not my favorite thing to do on a day off, but I must get it done and can't seem to get it done on weekends and evenings. Too many things to do and not enough time.
Everyone have a good Friday and a good weekend.Posted 2 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

MC, I know. It is just plain torture to see all these beautiful kittehs needing homes. It breaks my heart. There was another tuxxie named Yvette that was posted for several weeks. I wanted her too. She was around a year and half. Good thing I have a pet limit at my place or I would have adopted two more cats by now. Sylvester would not have been happy with me. He barely tolerates Mia sometimes. Last night they were at their wrestling/fighting again as well as this morning. Also Mia seems a little afraid of Sylvester as well as afraid of me too this morning. She did seem to warm up a little when I was leaving. We will see how they are when I get home. We are having more of that unsettled weather because we have a low pressure parked right off of the California coast that is making the same system circle over us. It is cloudy and humid out.

CM, could you have Wayne drop some chicken off here on his way home? Its getting dinner time here and now I have no desire to go out to get it whatsoever. I have betty and wilma on my lap and I feel about as motivated as them!

Hi again, all! I'm having quite the lazy day. Slept in this morning and then met my friend at Panera. Home to watch the French Open on tv and relax with a book before heading to work. I so don't want to be here today!!!
By the way, Bobby doesn't purr either. I so wish he did! He does purr when he sucks the blanket, but he's not doing that much these days. One the other hand, it seems little Mi has picked up a variation of that habit. The last two days I've caught him under my one blanket with part of it in his mouth. I thought he was trying to tear it apart, but then I heard him purring and saw him kneading his paws. Silly boy! He sort of bites and tugs on the blanket - no suckling noises like Bobby makes, but I do think he's attempting to do the same thing.

Hi all! How are you feeling MC?

Okay, of that kitty I was wanting, I found a video of it's brother. You get to see her briefly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi3yfADAJx0
Both KFC's closed up for renovations in my area. If I want to get any, I have to go to one located in the edge of the ghetto area. No thanks! I guess this is the universe saying I don't need to be eating this type of food. Oh well.

I don't need to go to Petfinder, all the strays just come to me! A little while ago I saw the gorgeous orangie outside again. He was nosing around the front door, but ran off when I talked to him. I put some food out and he came back and sniffed it but wouldn't eat. The nerve! I guess he wasn't too hungry. He is quite the beauty with longer hair and golden eyes. Of course my brain is saying "No Way! Three is more than enough!"
Sorry I didn't see Siobhan's post this morning asking about tapas. I guess she will just have to experiment and tell us how it went. Congrats to her on her anniversary.

NNGM, sounds like your visitor is only checking out your place if he wasn't interested in the food. I am assuming most kitties who have been abandoned don't learn to be finicky until they are completely rehomed.
Of course four would even things out in your feline household. Ha ha!

This is only the 2nd time I have seen him. For all I know, he may belong to a neighbor. I've learned that the stray cats in this neighborhood eat very well, so they can afford to be picky. Years ago after I took in Jerrie, I found out that everyone was feeding him - even the ones with no cats. The boy was getting canned salmon, tuna fish, table scraps, you name it! Of course it helped him that he was so pathetically skinny. Still, coming to my house with the dry food must have been a letdown.
-
Ah, no wonder the stray isn't interested. Canned salmon, tuna fish, and table scraps would definitely make your dry cat food be uninteresting. Nice neighbors! Your neighborhood must have a big free good food sign to all the strays. I bet the word gets out amongst them.

I am doing ok today, thanks for asking. My neck is still stiff and sore. I was re-reading posts on the cheese thread and made mac-n-cheese for dinner. It was nearly as good as homeade but it was ok.
